I too am enjoying some OBSQ, this one from Binny's and around 104pf. My love affair with FR started only a little more than a year ago with a bottle of OBSQ, and sipping on this newly opened bottle makes a beautiful circle. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Four Roses is the Stitzel-Weller of our time.

Well, EW Antebellum didn't bring the Karma I was hoping for. . So, I'm moving on to a late 70's Fairfield Distillery Henry McKenna 6yr 86 proof to settle in. Great thing about baseball, there's always tomorrow.

You and Reid evidently convinced the lurkers to buy the rest of the TPS OBSQs. So what are your tasting notes on the Binny's barrel? I was love/hate on the 2011 LE, and finally dealt with it by adding simple syrup, so I'm one of the guys who got turned off by the recipe. Evidently that was not at all a set of superlative barrels.

This bottle as far as I know has been on the shelf at TPS since fall of 2010 so folks have not been beating down the doors for it..... but then again with 7000 lurkers a positive note can quickly eat up a single barrel.

I can't comment on the Binney's selection although I have heard good things about it. My take on TPS OBSQ as of late 2010 was---

TPS OBSQ has a very full and bright nose and is showing little alcohol... possibly given it is under 100PF. The nose is very sweet... honey, dark brown sugar, buttery, fall spices, candied fruit, ginger bread and vanilla. A very complex nose that seems to reveal something new with each sampling.

Very nice mouth feel... soft and velvet like. It is quite reserved up front without as much sweetness as one would expect. This is a complex bourbon that reveals something new with each taste. It is also very well balanced with the flavors melding beautifully. Spice, caramel, toffee notes, roasted hazel nuts, candied cherries and just a hint of wood.

The finish is very long with no bitter notes or heat. This is a bourbon that reveals itself slowly and changes at each turn. This is an elegant bourbon that you have to take your time with. If you are looking for in your face flavor you won't find it here.

First pass I would rate this in the 90's

Please keep in mind this is my opinion and I have a pretty average palate...

Getting ready for Mad Men with a pour of JTS Brown 86, a dusty from the mid 80's. Total Heaven Hill profile, sweet, minty, with a great nose. I usually switch to 4R1B when the show starts, will have to see tonight, may stay with HH and do my blended bottle of EC12, EWSB, and EWB.

Had several in the casinos in Reno this evening. Lots of WT101 (I mean lots - had to walk away so the very kind server wouldn't find me on the floor!), followed by Booker's, Blanton's and JBW. First time I've had JB in a long time and it helped me to determine that I am not a fan.

Heh, good night. Enjoyed all three, but punch for punch, the Tornado takes the Pour of the Evening award. Halfway through this bottle, and very glad there's another one waiting behind it.

I just opened a bottle for my first taste of OGD 114.

It's pretty good for OGD and $20/bottle! I need to taste it a bit more and see what flavor I find...

But...

It makes a VERY nice Manhattan (my usual style, 2:1 bourbon to Cocchi sweet vermouth, two dashes orange bitters, 1/2 tsp maple syrup, swirl in the shaker with ice, garnish with three Luxardo cherries). Superb!
