ERSB followed up by Makers 46. Both of these bottles have gotten much better after a couple of months of air time. In particular that ERSB is finding itself being reached for a lot lately.

Tried a few new (for me...some were actually quite old) bourbons with and courtesy of bad_scientist last night. The star of the show was the gift shop 16 year FRSB. Easily the best FR I've ever had and it's up there on my all-time list.

I think I enjoyed your samples more than my paltry offerings! Without getting too philosophical, I don't count 4R bottles as "mine", more like gifts from above that it is my duty to evangelize with.

You were right, any day can be a special occasion; next time you're in the area, I'll open one of the "unopenables".

Did a blind tasting of Jeffersons Pres Select 18 and PVW20 last night. Results were surprising.

JPS18 was darker a little more bite but quite impressive.

PVW20 was a little more subdued and did not have quite the bite of the 18. Both were damn good and I was really enjoying both on their own merits gave the slight edge to the 20 but, it was closer than anticipated.

Been on the road but brought along something small. Have learned that the hotel selections can be marginal at best.

Thankfully the something small is a BTEC 91. While not exactly the same taste profile that I remember from my previous bottle, I think my palate is off from a weekend cold last week, it's still a solid crowd pleaser.

The trifecta here of the Derby, Cinco de Mayo and Polish Constitution Day make it a good evening to stay off the roads in hard drinking Chicago and drink down what's open at home. Tonight I've enjoyed 4R OBSV 16 year gift shop, ORVW 107 from fall '11, a mingling of Weller 12, OWA 107 and SW Fitz Prime '81 and Old Fitz BIB '88. My Saturday nights tend to become wheater nights .

Now I'm drinking the 17yr FR1B OBSV from the gift shop, and it is hitting such a deep note. It is definitely darker on the eyes than any 4R I've ever had, and that weight lends itself in the best possible way in the tasting. It's heavy without being overwhelming in the least. It's just deeply satisfying at this moment.

I started late with some Auchroisk 20yo, a rare cask strength single malt Speyside from the distillery. I moved on to some beer and a THH+Dickel BS cocktail. Then a bit of PHC wheated and on to Pappy 20, so no shortage of decadence tonight. I needed it.

This living, aged, OBSV is pushing into beatific wonderland. Thank you Mr. Rutledge!

Turned out to be a 12 year day for me yesterday. Had my first taste of Weller 12 and Lot B yesterday afternoon courtesy of a kind SBer, and then ended the day with my a pour of my first EC12.

Hmm, I've got a LOT of SW OF Prime that I can't get rid of. So you vat the wheaters together? Do you know the proportions?

I know someone else who did this so just followed along. I did it in equal portions and it was damn tasty if still a little low on the proof when followed by the ORVW 107. The mingling comes in at 92 proof and if the Prime is from the glut and approximately 6 years old your coming in at 8.6 years of age. I love OWA well enough alone but not so much the other two so for me it improves on the Prime and W 12. Really just a variation on the SB blend or the industrial size Wade blend  referenced in tis thread here

Jefferson's Presidential 18 was the choice last night, and a very good choice indeed.

SB Blend - thanks to this board for all the info shared... the 1:1 vatting of OWA & Weller 12 is good stuff!

Started off this afternoon with a "grain flight:" MC, Bernheim Wheat, and WT101 Rye. All were delicious, but the MC revealed a honey note on entry that was wonderful.

This evening, I had a 2:1 vatting of EW Green and EC18. EC18 gave the EW the character it sorely lacked and gave me a way to polish off a bottle that was otherwise unappealing.

Now enjoying some SB Blend.

PVW15 tonight. I've purposely avoided this bottle for awhile. The time away is making me appreciate it even more.

So I read this before but don't remember where. I had opened my first Lot B a few months ago and wasn't impressed. Then tried it again a few days ago. What a difference a few months make! It's wonderful.

Had a perfect amount of ER10 and an excessive amount of grilled catfish at a local restaraunt this evening with the wife.
