Max Power
Sipping on TPS Ocho tonight I wish more companies would do this as well. I've gotten some inklings that Casa Noble may release a barrel proof sometime soon (not a joven).

I certainly hope so - although, I think Tequila doesn't quite need the cask strength like bourbon does to shine. BTW, thanks for reminding me I have one of these in the bunker: TPS Casa Noble Joven

I agree about tequila and proof. More proof than 80 would be nice but I find 100 proof to be pretty reasonable with tequila and still get plenty of flavor where other spirits can carry cask strength or at least proof over 100 and still be a pleasant drink. HighInTheMtns
My same logic applies better to tequila than to bourbon. I have my own water. I do not need to pay to ship someone else's water across a national border.

Jorgemu1
Can someone recommend a good tequila? My birthday is coming in July and I want to switch it up from my usual bourban/scotch choices. Right now I'm leaning toward getting Don Julio 1942 but I'm open to suggestions.

The DJ 1942 is very nice but certainly pricey. I am really enjoying anejo's from Excellia and Fortaleza recently. Neither are exactly bargains but a bit less than the 1942. Max Power
Margarita time!!I know, but the añejo makes a great margarita You know I love you...and I love 7L añejo. I just don't think that I could stand to mix it. I've got to give it some thought and get you a list of cheaper añejo tequilas that will give you a similar result so that you can sip the greatness that is 7L. Salud! unclebunk
I picked up a gift pack of Tres Agaves blanco that came with a 750 ml bottle of organic margarita mix this weekend. Man, talk about great value for $25. My wife and I really loved the margarita mix which was delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed a pour of the blanco on its own as well. Handsome bottle/label too. Check it out if it's available in your area.

Tres Agaves was originally formulated to mix, but the citrus aspect of and the nice oils make it a nice value sipper as well.

Max Power
I love how you roll bigtoys! 7L añejo and Clase Azul are totally different animals. If I'm looking for the sweet sipper, I go to CA. But I'd more often reach for 7L. That brand is so good an consistent. I actually picked up an extra 7L añejo for the bunker this week. There's no wrong choice! Salud! bad_scientist
It's a mezcal but I hope it's okay! I got a Del Maguey St. Louis last night. I had read it was smoky and chalky, but I get fresh creamy agave with just a tad smokiness and only a little hint of the minerally volcanic soil stuff. Delicious but disappointing, considering the price.
