Cracked open a bottle of Vintage 17 and had a pour. Needs to sit awhile before I return to it. I got lazy after that; Four Roses w/club soda; Old Fitzgerald hot toddy (with a 1/2-ounce of brandy); and, Sazerac Rye hot toddy.

Just finished a nice pour of GTS '12 while watching some football. Going to follow that up with an equally nice pour of WLW '12.

Helped a buddy move some furniture to his new house, then took down the outside Christmas decorations. Which all resulted in addtional pain to an already hurtin' right rotator cuff. So, some '04 Stagg to ease the pain, and ease me into a nice evening of relaxation...

A couple different SB blends this evening. First was OWA/WSR. Now OWA/W12

Fabulous wrap on the weekend as friend dropped by and we pulled out a silver 375 of High West 21 year old rye. Delicious juice and wrapped the evening with one drink left in the bottle. Think I'll take that one to the porch for one lucky rascal. Thanks, David Perkins ... shame there's no more of this stuff.

Can you post some tasting notes? Folks who love the same ryes I do heartily recommend it, but, man, is it expensive.

I'm watching the Redskins lose with a glass of a Willett 18 year wheater. Cracked it open today to let it get some airtime before a tasting next week. Pretty good stuff! It also is very instructive, as I can tell right away that I could confuse the spice from the barrel for a bit of rye. I still have a lot to learn :)

Having a small pour of KCSBR while recuperating from surgery for facial fractures. It's a nice pain killer...lol.

I'll give it a shot .. but I gotta tell you .. we just went at it and racked up "Bad Santa" and spent damn little time talking about it other than .. "damn, this is good!" As Billy Bob Thornton was crawling up to the kid's doorstep with the stuffed elephant and the movie credits started rolling .. we were finished with the bottle. I noted that it was so velvety sweet with dominant vanilla .. a nose that matched the liquor .. and little to no front heat. Actually .. no heat .. too easy to drink. We had it on ice .. and at one point I commented that .. blind .. I might not identify it as rye .. but more pappylike. I know that's not much .. so I should save that one remaining shot for tasting as the entire remainder of the bottle was wasted (not) drinking! You are right about the cost .. I paid $70+ for the 375 last April. Broken down in cost per drink .. a bargain.

I hope the KC is working well for you and the recovery process even better.

Hah, that's awesome! I love that movie. My brother was wondering at one point in the middle of the movie, when he tried to steal something and ended up passing out drunk, what the plot was. I think that his drinking IS the plot, and everything that happens in the movie is sort of incidental to that. The ending you mentioned is hysterical, playing up the typical scenes in movies of selfless martyrs. It's just the best.

Oh, and the rye sounds phenomenal - thanks for the notes! I already spent my Xmas money but hopefully there will be some around during my birthday fiscal bloodletting :)

Just opened a bottle of 2012 4RSmB. Opened up very nicely with a splash of water and a few minutes in the glass. The nose is definitely more mellow that I had anticipated. However, the mouthfeel and flavors from beginning to end live up to the hype. Very impressive and complex!

Thank you. It's day two, and I think I just might have another pour before I go to bed.
