smokinjoe
I'm gazing longingly at the new 4-pack of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout that I picked up for SPD, but since it's such a glorious warm Spring day here, I'm going with the SA Alpine Spring. I'm left wondering if I have the discipline to not break into the FES until tomorrow...Did I say that was a 4-pack of FES that I bought??? Sorry, my mistake, I meant to say that was the new 3-pack offering they have out...Really!
clingman71
Started with some Homebrew Farmhouse while brewing a single hop session IPA. Then it was Pipeworks Something Hoppy..., now it's on to some Balcone's barrel-aged homebrew barleywine.

callmeox
I couldn't find a cold 6'er of my favorite Irish ale last night, so I grabbed a cold 6 of Dales Pale Ale after Cliff pimped it in chat recently. I'm going to add it to my canned beer summer rotation.I didn't intend on picking up any more beer today, but I happened upon some cold Conway's Irish Ale from GLBC while fighing the crowds at the store so I couldn't pass it up. This is definitely my favorite of the GLBC seasonals.

P&MLiquorsEric
I had a Schlafly 21st Anniversary Scotch Ale aged in Peated Scotch Barrels. While it was interesting, I am not sure if the peated barrels aging is something I am a fan of.

Beer&Bourbon
Picked up an Ommegang Game of Thrones Iron Throne Blonde Ale today, but it will have to wait until E1S3.I forgot they were putting these out. I'll have to look for one next time I'm out - of course to enjoy with the new season. Almost finished with the released books and can't wait to see what the series turns into by the 5th book. You all might be interested to try Manhattan Project from Quaff Bros (no affiliation). (The TPS guys made this in conjunction with Listermann brewing in Cincy.) They released on Friday and have sold half of the bottles so grab them quick if you're interested: https://www.thepartysource.com/express/item.php?id=34859It's a rye beer with maraschino cherries and orange bitters aged in Willett rye whiskey barrels. It's appropriately boozy for a (cocktail) beer with nice complexity. If you're into cocktails try it out and post your thoughts. Cheers!

unclebunk
Currently drinking good ole' Mühlen Kölsch. From Cologne. Good stuff.I'm envious. Kolsch beer in Cologne is a real treat. Do you have a favorite?
squire
I haven't found a domestic substitute for Kolsch and believe me I've tried.
P&MLiquorsEric
Kolsch is a style of beer originating in Cologne Germany. That is one style that does not allow for much variation. Every kolsch i have ever tried tastes nearly identical. However I have never had a Kolsch in cologne.
stiffchainey
Kölsch has a lot of variations. Reißdorf, Peters and Mühlen are more on the sweeter side, whereas Gaffel, Gilden, Sion are more on the stronger side (taste-wise). I mean, there are so much different Kölsch-brands, and they do taste differently. I mean, yes, you can actually distinguish a Kölsch from an Alt, but I personally can distinguish the different brands from each other. Plus, it is a big difference, if you drink from tap or "Pittermännche" (which is a 5 liter ceg), or from a bottle. Really a big difference! You need to drink it from the original 0.2 l "Stangen", the small glasses. This is the real thing.PS: My fave Kölsch is Peters. Sold in small 0.33 l bottles, really good stuff. But here is a brewery in Cologne, like a micro-brewery, and they do Kölsch the really traditional style, plus the kitchen is original "rheinisch", lots of very delicious stuff. If you ever visit Cologne, this is a must see: http://www.paeffgen-koelsch.de/ It is right in the old red light district, easy access. P&MLiquorsEric
I stand corrected. My beer experience is from the American craft scene and mostly Belgians on the import side. German styles tend to get the cold shoulder in favor of hybrid styles. To relate it to wine, the German/English styles are old world where most American craft breweries are firmly new world.
