I've managed to pick a few others up thanks to great local friends. I've been happy with every one I've tried - so to be honest, not chasing at this point. Have a couple in the bunker - enough to keep my Whiskeria Nervosa at bay. Which isn't to say if I see one on the shelf, I don't knock down small children and old people to get to it Hey sometimes the aisle needs to be cleared a bit in case of a fire. And he will be getting 65 three packs....and he has 124 stores wanting them. So half won't be getting any and other half probably won't hit the shelves. Hope my in with my local owner gets me a shot at one.Geez...we just got ECBP #6 around here about a month ago, maybe less. When was that one released? Auracom Posted January 29, 2015 Share Posted January 29, 2015 I've been playing around with Batch 6 downproofing, both with water and regular EC12, and so far I can't drop the alcohol without losing too much depth... particularly in the finish. Anyone have a good ratio for this batch?I'm not convinced this batch is quite up to par yet, but I'm enjoying it no doubt.Keen to read more about your experimentations with this batch.I FINALLY figured this out after forgetting about the vatting for a few months. The key with batch 6 (unlike previous batches) is that you need to up-proof EC12 rather than down-proof the ECBP. So in the past I would blend them with a ratio of EC12 < 50% and ECBP b6 > 50%. Unfortunately, it just watered down without actually removing the nail polish and robitussin notes. Using water instead of EC12 is certainly worse.This afternoon I tried EC12 > 50% and ECBP b6 < 50%. My current vatting is 3 parts EC12 and 1 part ECBP b6, which puts me in at 52.7%... just above optimal 100 proof. I made slightly too much and so had to pour the extra in a glencairn, and even without any time for melding, it's already really nice. ECBP adds butter and savory meatiness to the already great oak and burnt brown sugar of EC12. I still think b6 is not as good as earlier batches, but this is how I'll be drinking the rest of my batch 6 bottles. With batch 2, for example, my ratio was more like 20% EC12 and 80% ECBP and I didn't need to try and remove harshness. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's beauty lies in the simplicity and drinkability (particularly out of the fridge! ) the 6 years in wood brings. The 12 yr is a total and complete bump up in everything to the 6 yr HH profile. More complex, more integrated wood notes, an explosive nose...Superior whiskey, and the BP iteration is magic in a bottle. They were going for either $45.99 or $49.99. I passed because I did not know what it was and the proof kinda steered me off. I will not make that mistake again.
