MtnDew
I'm still too much into that "new to bourbon" phase where I don't have favorites yet. I started off heavy into scotch and while it, and Irish, are still my favorites I've started to get into bourbons more and more lately. The funny part is I went on a buying spree and just love getting rare or nice (ie overpriced) bourbons, I'm only now starting to discover the cheaper labels. For example, I've never even tried Old Forester, any Weller, Grand Dad, Wild Turkey, Rittenhouse etc... but I have Jefferson PS 17 year, winkle 10, 12, 15, 20, three BTACs (2 GTS, 1 THH), and various other "nice" bourbons sitting in my closet. Thankfully I'm getting my priorities straight and have started to try other brands. I recently started making sazeracs with Old Overholdt Rye and opened my bottle of blue state bourbon (heaven hills) and have been enjoying that. It's amazing, you can actually enjoy good bottles for under $20. Now if only scotch were that cheap...BTW, current opened bourbon/ryes are:GTSWinkle 12KirklandJohn J BowmanBlue StateOld OverholdtJB White (for marinades and mixers)JD BlackI could see Kirkland staying as part of my rotation for availability and generally decent taste Edited September 25, 2013 by MtnDew
rcb4d
I always have open:- SB Blend Weller (my recent vattings consist of 2 x 750 Well 12 + 1 x 1.75 OWA)- either Bulleit or Ritt ryes- a FRSB of some sort. Currently, the standard issue poured into my Secretariat 'decanter'- OGD BIB/114- something from the EHT line, currently it's the Tornado

I haven't heard anything credible one way or the other, but at the very least, they'll be selected by Harlen/whoever else in the future.

I assume its just gossip, as its a pretty popular mid shelfer hereDemand may increase (and price would follow suit) due to his passing, but the brand will live on (both as a memorial to his contribution to the distillery and to the fact that it's been around roughly 14-15 years and has plenty of name recognition). As you know, I'm a fan of the ETL.

theglo
1. Woodford Reserve (seems to stay as my "go to" choice).2. Maker's Mark (I enjoy wheated and this is usually available everywhere).3. Blanton's (although usually slightly more than $50, but just the nose is worth the money).4. Buffalo Trace (seems to always be enjoyable no matter my mood or circumstance).5. Jim Beam Black (don't ask me why but I just seem to often pick this one out of any lineup of bottles).
