Feels this morning like I drank every Irish whisky on the planet last night, although skimming over the pictures, I guess it was small tastes of around 20. Really enjoyed the Red Breast 21 yr, and Bruce's whale (TWC Vintage Reserve 21 yr Silver Single Malt Irish - which blindfolded I would have swore was a Scotch). Also liked the Knappogue Castle 17yr Sherry finish, and Writers Tears 2012. The taste of some Suntory Hibiki 17yr old was pretty good too! Thanks to BigRich for hosting an amazing get together (and for Bruce bringing such an amazing assortment of Irish whisky!)

That's a nice run. I have a sealed Jeff. Chef's Collaboration. I'm interested and will probably crack it some time. I'm trying to thin the herd of opens before cracking new ones. If you're ever in the Twin Cities and feel like ripping through a collection a bit, PM me.

Hey Max, thanks for the invite same goes for you if your ever in the Wi. area, I just realized I posted this in the wrong thread...ooops!

It was great having the guys over last night! Big thanks to Bruce and I'm wrestling with myself about scouring the area for a RB 21 today. It and the Yellow Spot were my favorites if the night.

I'm often in the WI area. My in-laws are in Elkhorn.

Tullamore Dew Phoenix. Interesting dram--definite sherry influence with some grungy pot still flavors and some creamy vanilla grain flavors, but a bit spirity. I think this one is going to be good once it has been open for awhile. Hopefully the sherry influence doesn't oxidize out too quickly.

RB CS B1 '11 & '12 SBS and was actually surprised by the noticeable difference the '11 I found to be a bit more red berries and fruit forward the '12 a bit deeper and a touch more dry both great, great pours.

Watched the ice turn to snow, so I figured I'd start a fire and have a generous pour of RB12. A very generous pour!

I don't know about being a rock star, or as my brother says party like a rock star, but I like neat whiskey (high quality bourbon or selected scotch) in the morning if I'm no going to do anything to serious that day.

It was actually more of an insinuation for creating such a great paring of the crab omelette and a nice Islay whisky, this coming from a guy who once used PHC 5th in pancake batter.

Brought some bottles over to a family dinner. Ended up polishing off a Laph 18 and most of a G&M Rosebank 19.

Sorry to have misinterpreted, but you're right crab and Islay are a great combination.

Had a couple pours of Laphroaig 18 tonight. Maybe I just got a great bottle, but this is absolutely the smoothest whisky I have ever sampled. Mellow (for laphroaig), flavorful, and really no alcohol burn to speak of. Lots of iodine, a tinge of peat, and an underlying vanilla/marshmallow/creme de menthe sweetness. Just an amazing dram.

That's an enjoyable dram for sure, one I still reach for on occasions. I have several in the bunker. I do prefer the older style 15 before they modified the distillate and replaced it with the 18. The 18 tastes a little more dumbed down (for lack of a better word) than the 15. The 15 is more vibrant and pops on the palate with bolder flavors. Hard to explain I guess.

Had some Ardbeg Ardbog last night

The first few tastes I had on this one didn't do much for me. It was by no means off-putting like Galileo, but it just lacked that Ardbeg bite for me. Kind of an overall meh experience.

Larger-than-intended pour of Ardbeg 10 but this should last me through the evening.

Ah, my goto Scotch pour. Just love this stuff! Young, peaty, salty Islay....just fantastic!

Wee has not been part of the vocabulary, during my assault of everything Irish these last coupla days.. BigRich started it off with his Irish WhiskeyFest on Saturday, and tonight it's a rotation of PJL, Knappogue 92, and RB Cask Strength. I just need somebody to loan me $200+, so I can get one of those gorgeous Midleton Barry Crickett Legacy's that Bruce shared. :D Faith and Begorrah, that is an awesome Irish whiskey!

Aberlour A'bunadh tonight... Really sweet with no afterburn, high power bourbon must have had something to do with that!

Had a couple nice drinks earlier. One an AD Rattray Clynelish 16 year from K&L (lovely), and then a bit of Laphroaig Cairdeas Portwood (meh, not sure why people have been going nuts over this on reddit).

Closing out the night with a small pour from a new bottle, a Bowmore 1996/2013 single cask from K&L under their value oriented Faultline label. Refill sherry, barrel 960069 at 52% ABV.

Fairly subtle nose, but with noticeable peat smoke. Took a couple minutes to open up after pouring. Straightforward, though a little boring on the palate. Barely there sherry notes, but sweet enough to offset the peat. Very nice to sip and enjoy, but nothing I would go out of my way to track down.

All that Ardbeg 10yr chatter caused me to pour a glass from a 2003 10yr. Such awesome stuff. More citrusy, slightly lighter and less charry than the recent releases. Then it was on to the 2010 Lag 12 CS...too good.

Opened a Glenmorangie 10 last night, and proceeded to kill about a third of the bottle. Way too drinkable.

Umm, Crockett (As in Tubbs partner. You know you watched it )!

Don't want you to end up making a Grasshopper cocktail. It may be green but it isn't very Irish...
