What bourbon are you drinking - Fall 2013

I finished off a 375 of Fighting Cock, on purpose, since it's the only near-empty 375 I have on hand. I wanted it empty so I can refill it from a bottle of A. Smith Bowman Bourbon I bought a few years ago (and sold half to my son, Gary). He'll be up from Marietta in a few weex, then he'll be able to take his half-bottle of this fabulous juice (IMHO) home with him.

FYI I like the FC pretty well for fairly reasonable dollars. Might have to grab a replacement. :grin:

Good point. Some of the best I've had came from S-W and one of the worst I've had came from S-W (and it was not a dusty-gone-bad.)

Michael, when did the Frankfort bottlings of Weller transition to Bernheim distillate. With the crossed wheat bottles or before?

As good or better whisky could be made today but production costs would go up and that's the rub. Modern producers find it more profitable to use higher barrel entry proof and just age it longer but it's not the same, you can't fool Mother Nature.

Production at Bernheim started in 1992 but I don't know when the wheat bottles started.

Last night, EWSB vintage 2003 with a cube. Delightful! Bottle's getting toward empty, time to pick up another.

Tonight, cracked open a bottle of Old Forester signature that I picked up in NH when I was driving through (haven't seen the signature in MA). Not too expensive, not too complicated. A lilttle too much alcohol/hot flavor for my taste tonight, had it neat, maybe I'll try it with some water or a cube next time.

In honor of repeal day, had a pour of the Old Forester repeal bourbon. Always interesting.

Also had a pour of SA Old Scout 10 Yr. Decent, but don't see it being a repeat purchase at close to $50.

No. Found two half pints in a grocery store off the highway next to a swamp on the way to pick up that WSR '88.

Had a big ole pour of ECBP 137. My wife found me sleeping sitting up with the glass still in my hand at 2 this morning. I know there are mixed reviews about the second release, but I really can't find much difference between the 134.2 and the 137. And of course the new release I've not seen yet in Kentucky.

Sipping a little W12 this fine snowy evening here in southern Indiana. I have my daughter on my lap and Cinderella on Blu ray. The bourbon makes Cinderella tolerable :-)

Sleep late, have fun, get wild, drink whiskey and drive fast on empty streets with nothing in mind but falling in love and not getting arrested.
