A good Irish whisky?

I would be interested in trying the new Powers as well, higher proof and NCF are both a plus.

The Redbreast 12 Cask Strength is in my Top 5 All Time whiskies of any kind. I also was floored by how good the Power's John Lane was when I had it at the Gazebo in Bardstown last KBF.

Well, I done went and picked me up a bottle of PJL, today. Sippin' on a couple of pours this evening, and I am again floored by this beautiful whiskey. Down goes Frazier!! Down goes Frazier!!! I must do a SBS with the RBCS, as I'm thinking that I may enjoy this even more?!?!?! The nose is absolute Heaven. So clean! So fresh! Freshly laundered white cotton sheets after air dried out on the clothes line. Yeah, I know, sounding like Jim Murray.... But dang it, that's what it is! Stunning. Really. And the palate and finish bring on all of the honey, toffee, and light caramel hits in absolute controlled strength. Dazzling, Dazzling whiskey!

I can't agree enough here the RB12 CS was top rank for me until I first tried the PJL and now I'm completely assured it is a superior whisky,at least for me it is.The Yellow Spot is divine,but availability on the other hand......:rolleyes:for the time being.PJL just aligns so well to a bourbon drinkers palate it is a rather easy transition.

I tried the Tullamore Dew Phoenix and it exceeded expectations. I would like to try the Green/Yellow/Red Spots as well at some point.

I really enjoy Jameson Select Reserve. Big step up from regular Jameson. Very well blended (balanced bourbon cask with sherry cask)...it tastes like Green Spot mixed with well aged grain whisky.

I too, am looking forward to trying the Tullamore Dew Phoenix. I have enjoyed the other iterations from TD, and have high hopes for this one, from what I have heard. Totally diggin' the resurgence of Irish that we are seeing, lately. I hope the momentum keeps going.

Dang....I should have never clicked on this thread yesterday. Thanks to you jokers, I felt compelled to make a run today and am now in possession of the Phoenix and Powers John Lane..... Well, St. Patricks Day is approaching so it's important to be well stocked with the Irish libations.

I've been enjoying Powers Gold Label 12 year old. I was told it is finished in sherry barrels for significant amount of time. It also helps that I can buy it for $31 a bottle.

Well guys, armed with all those good choices when I went down to Binny's (I even brought me a list along) for the get together, I had the PJL in hand....but then I had to go down the isle to the bourbon section,and found some others that I could not get in Wi. so back on the shelf it went,as I was limited to what I could carry back on the train with me(and also the budget thing 3 bottles vs. 1).However it is still top priority for me ,as it is available around these parts of town,I think it was like $69.99 @ Binny's? I did manage to bring something else back with me on the train,from which I am still trying to get rid of...some kind of flu.Figures.

Tullamore D.E.W. is a delicious Irish whiskey which I find to be a step up from Jameson in enjoyability. It is a blend of Irish Pot Still, Golden Grain, and Malt Whiskeys I believe. It is a very friendly drinker neat.
