After going out to dinner with mrsvosgar and having perhaps the best filet mignon I've ever had, JPL is the perfect dessert pour. Just outstanding

At a tasting yesterday, we had Greenore 8 yr, Kilbeggan, Green Spot, Redbreast 12 year cask strength and Bushmills 21. The Greenore and Kilbeggan were enjoyable, but pretty mild, to me. The Green Spot, Redbreast 12 cask strength and Bushmills 21 year were particularly good. I ended up getting a bottle of the Green Spot for St. Patrick's Day. It seemed to have a fresher, brighter note to it, while the Redbreast had more dried fruits notes and the Bushmill's was a little more mellowed out than I was looking for, but also very nice.

Can't go wrong with Redbreast 12, I want so bad to get some Greenspot. Of course, I've had all the big brands, they are fine and you know what you are buying. I want badly to get my hands on some Clontarf 1014 and Knoppouge Castle.

One I would love to try is Crested 10, seems a bit rare.

Is it available in the States? Didn't think the Jameson Crested Ten was available here. Canada maybe? I have only had it across the pond. A nice value whiskey although the name is perhaps a bit deceptive as it isn't a ten year old whiskey. Never brought one home as I always seemed to have higher priorities for the limited baggage space!

Depending on where you are and what you can get your hands on yellow spot and green spot are both tasty but I would second red breast 12

Enjoying some Green Spot right now as it happens. Not had Yellow Spot... how does it compare?

Yellow Spot is closer to Redbreast with a similar level of depth and maturity that isn't found in its younger sibling Green Spot although the Malaga wine cask finish also gives the Yellow a fairly unique extra bit of sweet fruit flavor that helps set it apart.

What he said, though both are extraordinarily good in their own ways. Get 'em both if you can!

My favorite is Redbreast 12 Cask Strength. I've have the regular 12 and the 15, of those the cask strength in my opinion is the best. I also have the Redbreast 25 that I have yet to sample. Hoping for good things.

The Green Spot is a decent pour, to me comparable to the Redbreast 12. I will have to keep an eye out for Yellow Spot have not seem that in the DC area.

The truth is that when it comes to whiskey us Irishmen love them all. Something in the genes?

Anyone out there break down and spend the small fortune on the Redbreast 21 yet? If so, have you tried it,just curious how it tastes , I saw it the other day in a locked case......$275.00! Don't think I will ever break down for that one, even though I really like all their offerings.

RB21 goes for about $230 here. I have a hard time justifying that, given that I'm not super enthusiastic about Irish Whiskey anyway. I do enjoy the Redbreast line as well as the Tyrconnell finished 10 yr, but I think RB21 would need to be around $150 to really tickle my curiosity pickle. But if you're a greater fan ofIrish whiske than I am, I can see why folks would spend the $230ish to try this.

It's closer to $300 here. If I could find it under $250 Id snag it. Although Bruce was kind enough to share his with me so I know how good it is and I love Irish whiskey.

Now that would be tempting.
