What Bourbon Are You Drinking - Spring 2014

Stagg Jr. out back in front of the outdoor fireplace. Every single time I drink this whiskey I am more, and more, and more...impressed. It's brash, but not hot. The dark cocoa and cherry notes really assert themselves over the palate. I'm a big fan of this one.

Booker's 25th and Booker's Roundtable tonight. Very different bourbons but both equally good!

Polished off a bottle of Rock Hill Farms last night, then a nice pour of Bourye (the next bottle slated for elimination) and finished up with the SB blend. Last night I'd rank them in that order. Funny how taste buds can play tricks on you - I've been working on finishing off the bottle of RHF and the night before it didn't excite me at all. Twice as good last night. Luckily I've got two more in the bunker, but I'll save them for awhile and open up something else in its place.

I continue to enjoy this one more and more myself.

Last night, I tried the KC 100 proof for the second time at the little bar by my office (not the one with the self claimed world's largest bourbon selection).

Can't say that this one is grabbing me yet. The smoke and barrel char notes just don't seem to be balanced by sweetness the way I tend to like it. This will not stop me from trying it for a third time though!

Haha. Yeah. A little self criticism though. This one needs some tweaking. Has a great nose but it's a little hot :-)

To be fair I need to give Bingstein some credit as well. I sent him a sample blind because I wanted an unbiased opinion. I'm my own worst critic so I need someone on the outside to give an opinion. That being said it's pretty good. I will attempt it again soon and see if I can improve.

OWA 1B. Lil thin and a lil young, but quite tasty. Noses and tastes like honey, green apples, and chamomile tea. Decent finish too! Quite different and def worth the $22.

Those are all good bottles in their own right. Although, I haven't had the Crown bottle. I can't imaging it being anything but good. Throw some OESV from the GS in there if you have it. The bottle I have is loaded with dark fruit flavors without being as sweet as the OESO. Anyway, cool idea.

Just made a large dent in a 2013 ORVW with a few good friends. This stuff is so much better than the lot B or PVW15 from the same release.

Couple pours to kill off my 2012 OFBB. Sigh - actually wish I hadn't opened it so I could jave given it years from now to me nephew born in 2000. But I did open it amd quite enjoyed the bottle!

This needs a lot more than normal but once you find what works for you it'll be great. Just wanted to say don't be shy to add water to this.

Wrap up my first bottle of ECBP 4th, a little too fast.

Enjoying a 4RSmB125th now, wow superb. It's been a couple of months since I finished my last bottle.

Tonight I started with some WTRRSB local store pick and followed that with some Barterhouse. For 20 years old, I thought the Barter would have more oak in it than it did. Not too bad.

After starting the thread about WT101 a while back, a number of you suggested that WTRB would be a natural next step and you were right! Had some tonight and found it extremely enjoyable. This will become a part of the regular rotation from here on out.

Also did a side by side of standard Bookers and Bookers 25th at a bar. I could definitely tell the difference as the 25th has more complexity and balance to me.

Well I for one went back to WT101 after reading your post and am damn glad I did

Looks like I'll pick up a WTRB this week and see if the trend continues.

On the other I really don't appreciate Booker's and at $200 I'm passing on the 25th.

I'd imagine I will ride this bourbon all the way through Monday evening. It's done me good so far!
