Hey, if Gary says it's Friday, then we have two more days off! I am down with it!.

My son-in-law and I each had a very nice pour of WLW yesterday, in honor of Father's Day. :drinking:

Then, we played around in the pool and ate slow-roasted ribs and played 'ladder-ball'....Very nice, indeed!

Well, now that the weekend is over, time to assess the "damage". Friday night, ECBP devil's batch and Dickel 14 at home after a tough work-week. Saturday night, Blanton's on the rocks was my drink of choice at a get-together (had a few of those). Sunday night just a small pour of '03 EWSB to wind down after a nice Father's Day.

Having some Stagg Jr on this fine Monday . . . (checking calendar) . . . yeah, Monday afternoon :)

Enjoying Parker's Promise of Hope. I accidentally left this open for 9 days, but it is now absolutely delicious, so I don't mind. It tasted like harsh fusels and wood splinters before, and now it tastes like a perfect "in betweener" of Henry McKenna and Elijah Craig 12.

I finished up my residency training this weekend and celebrated with 2 pours of THH '13 and a pour of Bookers 25. Great bourbons to mark the occasion.

Started with some Makers. Sipping on some Knob Creek now with a bit of water. Still one of my favorites.

congrats, Cardsfan!

I had some new WTRB after working all damn day putting up more privacy fence.

I told my wife today, "you just had to say yesterday "boy, it sure is a cool June", didnt you?", as it was 90+ here and muggy.

FR125th in the glass. The humidity is starting to creep in, but this is refreshing tonight...

A 50/50 blend or RR10 and RRSB. That gets the proof up to ~100. Very tasty. I used this blend to refill my recently emptied bottle of Wild Turkey Tradition.

You haven't experienced a cool June until you've experienced a Seattle June. Low to mid 60's and overcast for the past week. I'm looking forward to the high heat and humidity of Cincinnati which is where I'll be later this week.

On topic, working on my bottle of J.E.P. 1776. Trying to finish it and clear the shelf space. It's an MGPI high rye bourbon (38% rye). You can smell and taste that "LDI rye" note that you hear people talk about. It's not really my thing.

I remember weighing a job offer from Seattle once. I had just come inside from being at the pool, flipped on the Rangers-Mariners game and saw everyone wearing coats and scarves. Decision made... It was JUNE for the love of Pete!

OGDBiB over rocks at the end of yesterday's evening of chores.

I know BiBs mean extra effort in the modern age; it's a shame that "bonded whiskey" hasn't become a hip and trendy indicator of minimum quality to the new generation of whiskey drinkers.

AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH?!?!?! I see the BIB's becoming harder and harder to find as the major brands (basically the only folks still doing BIB's) pull from barrels that would/might qualify to fill other labels that are "trendier".

It's Too Damned Bad!!! :smiley_acbt: Just MHO, and I AM an old curmudgeon, so take it with a grain of salt.

a super-great SB'er was visiting KY for a bunch of distillery tours and brought an '83 old crow to me at his cost. Id wanted one as my granddad retired from there in 83 and it was his favorite. Im ecstatic to have it, as my granddad wouldve had a hand in making the bourbon in that bottle!

on topic.....he also brought me a sample of '81 OGD BIB to try. Ya know, I never understood/'got' the butterscotch reference to bourbon that you guys talk about until I took a sip of this.....WOW! Im saving the rest of it until I get a current OGDBIB for comparison, but from what I remember of the 100 proof current stuff, its nothing like this. I usually just get the 114 version

I started with a pour of WL Weller Centennial then after that I poured some 2009 4R Mariage in the same glass.

It worked.

And still does.

Barterhouse, just sweet butterscotch, this bottle just gets better and better. Besides the open one on the bar I have one in the bunker. Methinks I'll pick up another.

Having a small early week pour. Finishing off the remainder of a WFE 8-Year, barrel # 6165. A favorite bottle. There was only a little over 5 ounces left so, I poured myself 1/2 and saved the rest to give to a fellow bourbon lover at work. It should give him a decent enough pour to try it. Nothing else tonight. Just wanted a small pour.
