mountaineervol
Passed on a bottle of 20 year PVW and 10 year ORVW at $2,000. I was told that the owner "found them in his closet and sold the 10 year once for $1,000 before, which is why they are so expensive." The employee also mentioned he would be buying some of the Pappy stock when they get it in the fall and would sell it online. Unfortunately this is the first time I have seen any Pappy in the wild. I had to laugh when he told me the price, and I know I spend too much on bourbon.
Paddy
Passed on a not bourbon JB Rye tonight. Had it in hand, but the 80 proof label just gave me the pause I needed to put it back on the shelf. Maybe another day...

MTNBourbon
While it happens, the fact that the employee admitted that he buys product from his own store and then sells it online, presumably at a higher price, would be enough to ensure that I never return to that store. MDBourbon
I passed up Rhetoric ($120), EH Taylor BP ($120), Forged Oak ($69.00). I really want to try the EH Taylor and the Rhetoric but I feel those prices are abit high and I already have the forged oak.
mountaineervol
I wish I had the option to buy from other places, but there are minimal decent stores around me. I may just wait until my trips to Pittsburgh for my trips to the liquor store. I guess that's what happens when you live in a college town with essentially one liquor store. 393foureyedfox
was with Mrs Fox visiting some of her family in Bloomington, and we stopped by a local chain to see what it had. Decent selection of bourbons, but the prices were high by louisville standards.....Dickel 9 for $60 ($45 here), KCSB store select for $60 ($38ish here), 4RSiB 100 proof store select for $60 ($40ish here)also saw some green label HH at 80 proof. the green HH in KY is a 6 year 90 proofer, and the 80 is a black label. whats the point of making a black NAS 80 proof for KY, and a green NAS 80 proof for IN?WT101 was the only well priced bourbon there, at $18. Nothing interested me enough to buy, but Mrs Fox grabbed a few wines.

garbanzobean
New High West Bourye. Looks like it hit MD. Also, offered the proprietor of a local store cash if she knocked the price of Saz18 down $100 to a still obscene $199. She laughed at me, so I guess that answers that question. MTNBourbon
Several CEHT, OWA, Baby Saz, blantons. All at MSRP.Why would you do that? Those CEHT are pretty hard to find at MSRP, right?
Hop
Forged Oak at $69.99 they had 4-5 but not for me...
GaryT
Why would you do that? Those CEHT are pretty hard to find at MSRP, right?Availability varies by market is my guess, and MSRP is kinda steep IMHO (at least for my palate). The Tornado Surviving is the only one I wish I would have snagged at retail.

I do enjoy both though.

Coop776
Had to pass due to room in the suitcase. Not to mention I know they aren't going anywhere and I'll be back in 2 weeks. The 2 birthday bourbons I picked up take up a ton of room.if anyone in VT wants to know where they are send me a message.
DonutsNBourbon
ran into some more Weller 12 at $29 and forged oak at $69. already got 4 bottles of W12 and I couldn't justify the $69 for the forged oak, although I would love to try it out. MTNBourbon
the CEHTJ Small batch at $40 is a great deal to me. the single barrel at $65... ehh that's pushing it. I do enjoy both though.I agree with ya, both and the barrel proof are very tasty. I would definitely re-buy them again at basically the price you say, and the barrel proof at $79.99, but pushing it to my limit right now for the barrel proof. fishnbowljoe
Passed on lots of stuff today. Tons of JD and GD amongst other things. The most notable bourbons I passed on were old decanters of Beam and WT. Oh, and three different ER 10/101 decanters. The price was just too steep. That, and the first one I looked at the cork was broken off. :frown: I didn't even bother looking at the others after that. Oh well.
Paul W
W12 for $39.99, best price I have seen around here. Old label RR10 (like the one in the picture) and some 2006 WTKS were also on the shelf, along with ECBP, but at 60 and 65 dollars each, they stay on the shelf. Similarly, ORVW and various contemporary Pappy at absurd prices can also continue to sit on the shelf. It actually makes me happy to see them sitting there not sold every time I go in.
