GaryT
Thanks to the generosity of a fellow SB'er, I managed to get a family size OWA. Looking forward to making a family size SB Blend vatting at some point in the future! Thanks again Bruce!

Vosgar
Went and saw everyone's favorite guy at Binny's, Joe (Lost Pollito), yesterday. I mean, you have to use the 15% off coupon, don't you? :grin:Thought I showed great restraint and only bought a SAOS 10yr, HW Bourye, and after having a taste of Binny's WT Kentucky Spirit selections (both of which are very good!) got one of each. Also picked up a couple of darksiders.

ccleve23
I might have to revisit this one, saw it a couple of days ago again.I have been enjoying the WT profile as of late. This WT101 could easily go to an everyday pour for me since the price is so good. Need to try it in a cocktail or two.

mbroo5880i
I was there (South Loop) on Saturday as the opened and they said no. I never know how to read Binny's, most times employees seem disgruntled or, at the least, awkwardly taciturn, when I ask about a limited release or new item, they're never upfront about timelines, or what needs to be done to get a hold of a certain product, the protected glass box has bottles of Hillrock rather than good bourbon, and online ordering is amazingly unreliable--I've ordered four bottles on different occasions and received an e-mail two days after my order went through saying they didn't have it. Once, when asked if I needed help, I inquired about a particular bottle to which the employee immediately responded, "You're not going to sell it, are you?" then asked for my first and last name, and brought the bottle out ten minutes later. I suppose it's what I should expect from a chain store in a busy city, but it's still a strange experience which results in me buying much of my whiskey in Madison, WI when I visit family.I cannot speak specifically to your experience. I don't even live in Chicago but I have always found working with Joe (Lost Pollito) at South Loop or Jim at Highland Park to be a pleasure. I will say that I find many chains to have some employees who are really engaged and others who are less engaged. At my local (Indy) chain, I find that when my normal contacts are not around, some of the employees seem less interested in doing anything other than ringing people up. Even, if I am asking them to just check inventory at another store, I can get a response from a blank stare to "they don't have it either." I am almost always met by a very friendly and helpful person. I do not recall a time I've left Binnys feeling anything else than satisfied...there is too much to know about wines and spirits, there is no way I can handle it all ( and I'm a certified sommelier ) so I'm always grateful for the various specialists they have at my disposal. On top of great service, the sheer buying power of the brand grants me access to stuff no one else would have and their prices ( especially with a coupon ) are hard to beat. Granted, I've only once gotten a rare bottle at a Binny's (the Weller12), but the sales people are generally always nice and helpful. it's just that selection varies wildly between the stores, and the way they handle specialty bottles varies as well. like the Highland Park binny's does a lottery for specialty bottles, and others do first come first serve. but overall, I do like my shopping experience Binny's
flahute
It's been a stock up sort of weekend. Saturday I grabbed 3 OGD 114's and 2 ER10's. Today it was 4 orange capped OGDBIB's and 2 Stagg Jr. batch 3's. No harm in loading up on favorites when they are available and before the price increases. bearmark
My brother picked up 2 HH6BiB and a SAOS8BPBS for me in Lexington and I added a Straight Edge to that. Haven't heard much about the latter, but I'm hoping that it's decent.

Tony Santana
Not today, but traveling a bit in the last week - found a Beam black label with the 8 years age statement - hasn't that gone the way of the dinosaur now? If not, then what the heck, I've got a JBB. A Michter's Toasted Oak. And in the Twin Cities I found some Bookers for $45, a much better price than I see at home, plus it was one of the "C" batches, which have all been stellar to my palate whenever I've had the chance to try one. Don't Shoot!
I bought a 1.75L of VOB BIB. A favorite of mine, and one I'll probably always have open on my shelf, regardless of what else I have going on. Very Old Barton's recipe is very close to what I consider the "typical" bourbon taste. And at 100 proof? Even more of that taste! And at $27?! What's not to love?
KyleCBreese
Picked up a 1.75 of Bulleit on sale for $44. I thought it was a great deal, so I pulled the trigger.
johnnybogey
Picked up makers cask strength after work. Strange thing is, it rang up as 19.99. Recall it being higher like another local big box store which is way over prices. I probably should have said something.
colinmcd
I went a little overboard today. I stopped by one store and bought OGDBiB, McKenna 10yr BiB and a handle of WT101. While I was on my way to an appointment I noticed a store I hadn't been to before so I went in to check it out. OGD114 for 17.99 and BT single barrel store selection for 19.99 looked too good to pass up.
