I here a lot about bourbon bunkers on this site and also on other sites and in news print. Since I'm a poor civil servant my so called bunker is a notty pine cabinet with about 22 bottles on hand. I try to maintain at least 20. My house is small so no room for huge and budget plays a factor. What's your bunker like ?

about 60 or so, mostly multiples of 5 or 6 different labels that I got on sale, or I was worried about supply regarding them. my 'bunker' consists of a few cases in the cellar, and a few cases in the garage. I dont show off anything, and most collectors wouldnt find 99% of mine collectible, but who cares? buy what you like, store like you're able to.

I've just done a count and updated my spreadsheet. Excluding some of the mini bottles, just north of 300 unopened. Prob. 40-60 open.

Roughly 250 bottles closed. 15 open. Last count was 80 or so brands. Lots of cases of single labels.

148 unopened bottles of spirits. about 50 open. 86 (57%) of the unopened are bourbon, mostly bottom shelfers. 18 (12%) are rye. As for the rest:

14 tequila; 9%

12 rum 8%

8 tenn w.; 5%

7 scotch; 5%

3 gin; 2%

2 mezcal; 2% [would really like to find more quality mezcal at a good value]

Just about to start a spreadsheet. 50 or so opened. The rest? Well I had to or rather the wife insisted, that I rent a climate controlled storage unit to store my bottles.

138 bottles, 96 open. 101 unique labels, so you get a picture - not a lot of duplicates!

Would love to whittle it down to a manageable level - like 100

Over 800 bottles with over 100 open.

If the end of world ever comes upon us, you just became my new best friend.

I don't show off anything either. You wouldn't know I have any in the house at all. I love the smile I get when someone is over and opens the cabinet.

Way too many in the bunker and too many open

Mike, as I have mentioned before-as a service to SB, the Hoosier contingent has put together a highly trained S.W.A.T. Team (Superior and Willing Alcohol Takers) available on moments notice to assist members with your predicament. Just dial 800-CLEAR-MY-BUNKER and one of our operators will set you up.

I've changed my own philosophy a bit and have been trying to keep things rotating vs. bunkering for extended periods (apart from a couple things I'm saving to do vertical tastings with at a more distant future date). I probably have gotten down to 20-25 unopened at this point, and trying to keep my opened bottles to always under 10.

Bigger than 99.99% of my neighbours, smaller than many on this board.

Once I got past 25 bottles my biggest fear became a break-in so I stopped advertising! (I used to keep a list of all my bottles on whiskybase.com now I just list what I have open)

Like someone said up-thread, I have maybe 3 or 4 bottles considered collectable, the rest is just good whisk(e)y.

Updated my spreadsheet this week too.

I just hit exactly 100 bottles of Bourbon (Around 76 unique labels).

Adding in Tennessee Whiskey, Rye, Scotch, Vodka, Tequila, etc. , in the neighborhood of 170 bottles.

I typed something out, but decided it was just a roadmap for someone who might want to rip me off. And I'm not usually a paranoid guy, but hey, this is a public forum. Let's just say less than 200 bottles of whiskey.
