nicely done on picking a great gf! and that's an awesome price on FRPS! I picked up a FRPS OBSV 10yr though for $60 unfortunately, from Binny's. Luckily they also had OWA for $23. I usually see it for $27 or more, so I picked one up and left the other 10 on the shelf ;)

Definitely a great price on OWA!

FINALLY!!!!

Yes, I paid too much, but I do not care. If you can't find it at MSRP, then MSRP doesn't really matter, does it? I had to get it shipped from Florida. I really envy you guys who can find this liquid gold on the regular for $60ish.

In Indianapolis I can get at least 2-3 different barrels of all 10 recipes from various stores around town. I've seen them on sale as low as $39.99 before. I guess I should enjoy it while it lasts.

Wow lucky. I've been searching in North New Jersey/NYC and only found 5/10 recipes. OBSO seems especially popular. Cheapest is $50 and highest is $70. I've been bunkering as much as I can get at $50. Such a good value.

It's nice your gf came through for you today. :woohoo: It's also cool you got some FR's and an OFBB.

Sorry, I couldn't help it. I just had to. Ya' gotta have some fun.

But seriously, congrats on procuring the great bottles. Cheers and enjoy.

Joe

Bazinga! Well played Joe.

$60 seems to be the going rate for ECBP nowadays. altho I wasn't around enjoying bourbon when it was going for less ;) congrats on the haul!

Some W12 and OWA seems to have hit the area, in small quantities, yesterday. I didn't need any more for myself but a friend was looking for W12 a while back, so I sent him a text. When I didn't get a reply right away, with only 3 bottles available, I picked one up for $35.99. I figure if he doesn't want it, I could always gift it to someone or I know a couple acquaintances who would reimburse me (at the purchase price) for it.

I didn't buy anything else (other than some beer)...holding back because I have a $5 off coupon that is only valid this Fri/Sat/Sun.

Re-stocked the barrel proofers the other day:

ECBP #8 (which just started showing up around here a couple weeks ago...wished I'd been able to get a #7 as well, but those went quick a couple months ago)

Stagg Jr. #4 (this looks like it's a second shipment...got one a while back, then it disappeared from the shelves, and now it's back)

Looked through the shelf of Booker's and found a "Big man Small batch" in the back and bought it. Three bottles of "Center Cut" sitting in front of it

Four bottles of W. L. Weller 12 in Texas. Impossible to find at home in spite of living less than 70 miles from the distillery.

Thanks! Yeah, I know what it should go for, and I paid a pretty good premium, even before adding shipping, but I'm ok with it.

Yes, it does.

Well, seeing as how everywhere I have traveled in the last 2+ years (NC, SC, VA, PA, NJ, MD, TX, KY, FL), I stop in multiple liquor stores and I haven't seen a bottle for sale (other than the bottle behind the glass at Heaven Hill that the cashier jokingly offered to sell me for $1,500), and I don't know many people in Illinois or Indiana (or wherever it is that ECBP is apparently plentiful), so while I'd LOVE to pay MSRP for a bottle of ECBP, if I can't find any in 2 years, then it doesn't do me much good to stand my ground on MSRP.

Now, I'm not saying I'd go crazy and pay $200 for a bottle of $60 bourbon, but if paying $30 extra means I can get my hands on some of the best tasting bourbon I've ever had, that I can't find in 2 years of looking, please tell me why I should care that somebody who is not me, someplace that is not where I'm at, can buy it for $60?

definitely not plentiful here in IL. I only saw it once on the shelf for $59, and grabbed it immediately. A friend tipped me off to it too. so really, if you found it for $60 on a secondary market, I'd say you got a good deal.

It wasn't on the secondary market. I found it online at a liquor store in Florida that ships to NC for $85 plus shipping. So I definitely didn't get a good deal, but I did get a bottle of ECBP, which makes me happy.

Yet to see this one in my bourbon journey in IL.

BMSB is excellent. Still looking for Center Cut.

I found a couple of the big man, small batch bottles and bought them. Really good stuff. I have seen center cut and dot's batch all over the place. Ill round them up shortly after opening this bottle.

Four Roses Small Batch. It was the last one on the shelf. I wonder whether the feeding frenzy is starting to trickle down to other brands?

FRSmB is definitely still an easy one to find. Binny's has plenty of it.

Every time I go to my local big box store, the Four Roses products are in short supply. They're always there, but only 2-3 bottles usually whereas most other brands are full depth on the shelf.

They were completely out of regular Four Roses yellow label (empty slot on the shelf), and had only the one bottle of Small Batch. They had several bottles of Single Barrel. Actually, I got one of those, too, but as a birthday present for my father. I usually give him bottles of whiskey for his birthday and Christmas, and try to find good stuff he might not have had or might not find in the stores he frequents. The FRSiB was a huge hit---possibly the most enthusiastic positive reaction I've gotten from him yet.
