Thanks to a very helpful SB member I was able to acquire an EC18. This is one I wanted for a long time so I am very thankful.

Broke my BTAC cherry by finding a Stagg in the wild yesterday, out the door for $100. Happy Halloween to me!

I was advised to be wary of 'great variation' from batch to batch. This bottle was hand carried to me by a long time store manager, so what's a man to do...

Soon enough, I'll see for myself. Just not tonight!

I picked up some Blanton's Straight From the Barrel from overseas...at 130+ proof it should be a bit less mellow. Looking forward to comparing it to the regular bottling.

Blanton's. Haven't purchased one in two years and some recent tastes at a bar have convinced me to revisit it. It's not that I didn't like it before, I just thought it was too mellow. I'm now coming around to realizing that there's a time and place for the refined elegance of this bourbon (to roughly quote smokinjoe) as me recent bar tastes have confirmed.

I'm a fan of SFTB. It's a different animal at full proof.

Walked into my local store and found FOUR Stagg Jr, Batch 4s (66.10%) - at $49 - bought em all - it is a wonderful batch!

Hope your experience is different from mine has been. First pour was tough to stomach for me

Always possible that a mystery whiskey could turn out to be good. At least they make it reasonably clear that it is sourced. I would be inclined to stay away myself unless I could try it first. As noted the first couple of batches didn't inspire much confidence based on reviews and comments.

Found an Elijah Craig BP Batch #8 overpaid for it since it will be the only bottle I'll come by, paid $81 with taxes.

My last few purchases. ECBP and JD were bought today.

My only problem with the Jack Daniels is it was bottled on September 11th, 2015 which, aside from the obvious importance, is the day I Reenlisted for another 6 years. Now I'll have to buy another.

All barrel proof goodness.

I'm a sucker for any barrel proofs just take my money. I might not like them all, but most of my favorites are the higher proofs.

Nice. That EC12 is a couple label designs old.

Cheers didnt know that. But it explains why the box and bottle were filthy when it arrived. It only cost me $39 which is good for here(Ireland) other places here charge $50 for EC 12. I might buy a couple more

One of my local stores has sample bottles of all kinds of stuff, tucked away on a shelf near the storeroom area. About a year ago I noticed a bottle of EC18, half full on that shelf. This would have been a remnant of when it was more readily available (and priced lower). I asked for a sample and the employee obliged. I really enjoyed it, surprised at the fact that the oak wasn't at all overpowering. Since it was discontinued at the time, I would ask for a sample every time I visited that store. Eventually the bottle disappeared entirely (not because I finished it) so I imagine the management realized there was no reason to have a sample bottle of something they didn't sell. Given an opportunity to purchase a bottle at the new price, I'm not sure what I would do.
