Cragganmore Distiller's Edition and Teeling. I had not seen these before. Vaguely recalled reading an article or seeing mention of Diageo's classic malts of Scotland here. The Teeling single malt Irish was recommended in the last issue of Men's Journal.

I got a bottle of soldier bourbon. Decent flavor and love the bottle lol. 40 bucks I'd say well spent. I'm also trying to start a list of must have bourbons for my collection

Took advantage of Astor's 15% off sale to get some solid staples delivered to my office in NYC (gotta love free delivery).  Great prices, $35 for the Ancnoc 12, $30 for the Artist's Blend, and $25 for the Monkey Shoulder. The SAOS cask strength rye is the proverbial icing on the cake.

I also picked up a Monkey Shoulder today out of curiosity. Strong reviews for an all malt "triple" blend for a pretty reasonable price. Contains Balvenie, Glenfiddich, and Kinnivie (which is right next to Balvenie but uses separate stills and is typically pricey and not regularly available in he US as far as I can tell).

This article about Kinnivie from Master of Malt is pretty interesting! We saw the still room from a distance (the tun and washbacks as the article notes are in the same building as the one used by Balvenie) when we toured Balvenie in September.

Yeah, definitely looking forward to trying the Monkey Shoulder.  Heard plenty of good things about it.  I have an Artist's Blend and an Oak Cross open, so curious to see how the Monkey Shoulder matches up.

Picked up another Longrow Red Fresh Port Casks for the bunker (Ralfy nailed this one) and a Compass Box Great King Street Glasgow Blend.  Can't keep my hands off the Longrow.

Been pretty quiet down in this thread.  Recent purchases include Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill, Johnnie Walker Green, and Aberlour 12 NCF.

Thanks to the help of a fellow SBer, who helped me get several bottles shipped to me this week, I managed to get the Longrow Red Pinot Noir finish.

Attended a Glendalough tasting a week or two ago and the rep mentioned they were doing single barrels of a limited whiskey called Triple Barrel (bourbon barrel finished in oloroso sherry and then madeira. Since one was coming to a local store I figured what the hack and picked one up.

Presumably Cooley sourced young 4+ yo NAS grain whiskey from Cooley with a finish in madeira. Another downside is the weak 84 proof. Probably should have passed but maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

Then again the relatively young Teeling grain whiskey aged in Cabernet was a pleasant surprise after all. Hmm, sounds like a potential side by side tasting between the Teeling, Glendalough and perhaps the original Greenore.

Interestingly it is being distributed to select stores by the barrel rather than a general release of a relatively small amount of whiskey.  Just surprised one ended up in Atlanta!

Didn't realize the label made the picture so dark.

Picked up a Monkey Shoulder Batch 27.  At $25 I thought it was worth a try.

The "batch 27" is redundant. Just call it Monkey Shoulder as every bottle caries that number - according to the marketing BS it refers to the number of barrels used.

Had to grab a bottle of the Glenfiddich 14 Year Bourbon Barrel Finished.  Haven't cracked it yet, but looking forward to trying it. I also want to pick up a bottle of the Johnny Walker Rye Cask finished just to try.

I knew the 27 referred to the barrels used but I was under the impression that there were other releases from them before this one. My mistake. Thanks for the correction.

When I bought a bottle last year in Bermuda (travel retail) I had no idea it referred to # of barrels. I felt duped (yeah, successful marketing will do that) when the Monkey Shoulder came into Ontario earlier this year and I saw the same "batch 27" on the neck. Researched it a bit and realized it was marketing BS. I'll think twice the next time I'm tempted to buy any Wm Grant product (Balvenie & Glenfiddich)!!!

Look forward to your notes.  Have only had the Fresh Port Casks, but I think they could age this juice in a Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill cask and I would like it...

Costco has Glenlivet 12 for $21, I grabbed one for the holiday bar.  They also had the Laphroaig 10, but I don't remember the price.

Benromach 10YO.

Funny, me too. Had many other bottles in my hand on and off, but this one was the only one that came home with me.

Wegman's had it for $52.99.  It was either that of the last roundtable Booker's.  Left the Booker's, but will probably be back for it.

Macallan Edition 1 which is a new "limited edition" even though every store around me has it on the shelf.   I can't find any info about bottle numbers, so this could be a "limited" run ala Barterhouse bourbon which had like 36,000+ bottles as part of its limited edition, or so the marketers said.  The Mac was $89.99 so I though I'd give it a shot.  Will be opening around the holidays.  Hope its good
