My local Costco has Laphroaig 10 for $28 now, that was the regular retail price until a couple of weeks ago.  The two big chain stores now have it listed for $38 and $54.  So I rehomed a couple of bottles at the cheaper price.  ;)

A Binny's gift certificate for Christmas + 15% off Saturday only sale = Road trip to the Lincoln Park Binny's to see my favorite spirits specialist and fellow SB'er, Joe Maloney. I'd asked Joe to help me out and select some robust, full flavored whiskies that I might not know about and as always, he did a great job.

I ended up buying a 2008 Signatory Mortlach, a 1988 Signatory Balmenach and to take care of my peat needs an 11yr Ballechin heavily peated Highland.

Just when I thought I was done, Joe had me try something completely different.....Copper & Kings American Brandy. Binny's advertises it as a brandy for bourbon lovers and IMHO they nailed it. It comes in at 120 proof but even though it's bold and very flavorful, you'd never guess the abv is that high. It's a Binny's selection and I may have to go back for more.  http://www.copperandkings.com/we-dont-make-bourbon-we-make-american-brandy/

Thanks again Joe!

Laphroaig 10 for $28, it's time to stock up.  It's double that in MI.

I now have enough to last me a couple of years.  I wish they would put the Sherry bombs on sale.  ;).

A few of my favorites have recently jumped up about $10 a bottle.

Ran across Flaming Heart 4th Edition at a great price yesterday, so brought one home. I think Lost Blend is going to be my next blend target.

Glenfarclas 105 and Kilchoman Impex Sherry Cask.  Looking forward to both.  Let my fingers do the clicking while recovering from snow clearing.

Nice--let us know what you think.  Haven't had the Kilchoman, but the Glenfarclas 105 is a big favorite of mine--terrific CS sherry-bomb.  I think I've read that the 10 year age statement on the 105 is going away, so it's a good one to bunker a couple of if you end up liking it.

Picked up the last lonely Glenfarclas 105 sitting on the shelf for no particular reason (lord knows I need more whisky...). I suppose the talk that the age statement was likely going away and the fact that this was perhaps the last of the original 10yo 120 proof I might see made me cave!

But it's a pleasant enough whisky at a decent price so what the heck.

That brandy sounds great, may have to pick it up.  I noticed that Binny's got a whole bunch of barrel select single malts this past week. I've got my eye on more than a few of them, but haven't grabbed any yet.

I grabbed a bottle of Mortlach Rare Old on sale at Costco. I'm wondering if this hasn't sold very well in the states.

My understanding is that it has not done well at all. Probably deservedly so.

Ha!  I was in line checking out when I turned around to give one last look-see.   Through the haze, I remember hearing Paul say quietly to the other guy, "He's thinking..."  Next thing I know, I'm taking the picture of this preposterously huge bottle by the patient little Sheltie...

It happened so quick...

A Glenmorangie Companta (2014 Private Edition #5 bottling) still hanging out on the shelf so I decided to add one more to the stockpile before it disappeared for good. Still looking for the newest private edition release in Georgia, Milsean. I see it elsewhere in the US but no sign of it here yet.

A new Binny's opened up today near me in Mokena and my one of my favorite employees is working there - so I threw down for a BenRaich 25 Authenticus which is a peated speysider.  I've been eyeing this one for awhile as its had stellar reviews from a variety of sources and it seemed like the right time to take it home

I don't know anything about that but at 40 y/o, Sherry casks, natural color, and unchillfiltered, 94 proof, it has the makings of a potentially great whiskey.

Let us know how it is.

St. Patty's is just around the corner, so picked up a Bushmill's Black Bush.

Didn't purchase, but was gifted by M & D in law for belated Valentines Day - Longrow 10 100.  Opened immediately and all I can say is Wow! this is some tasty stuff.  Never had Longrow before and I'm really pleased with it.  Cements Springbank as my #1 distillery.
