Reorganizing the bourbon cupboard to make room for some new purchases.  Found about 4 ounces of EC NAS in a bottle.  Hmmm...I need to get rid of the bottle to make some room.  Enjoying it while watching the end of the Colts-Broncos game and waiting for the Packers-Vikings game to start.

  • I've drank pretty well this weekend.  ETL, PVW 15 and BTEC  90 barrel entry proof (cheated bourbon). Tonight it's been standard Whistlepig and now Booker's rye.

Tonight I opened a gift bottle of Booker's Bourbon, about 40g.  I slow sipped it neat.  Wow.  There's a lot going on there, and next time I'll add a drop of two of water.

Enjoyed some home-made pumpkin pie & Redbreast 21 while visiting with family earlier today!

Been slow sipping some ECBP while watching football tonight! Life Is Good!

I always look forward to it as well. It has lots of red ripe berries and a subtle spice and a medium to long finish. I'd give it a solid B maybe a B+. It's less oaky for me than last year which is a plus for me anyway. Miles better than 2014 and I'm not even gonna dignify comparing it to 2012 or 2013 emoji2.png

Edit: It's better than 2015 for my palate as well. Mainly because I felt 2015 had way too much wood.

Sounds like it's right up my alley! Now to track one down...

Kicked off the college football season with a Jim Beam Double Oak that had I received from a friend.  Also had a couple of nice pours of ER10, which continues to be dialed right into my wheelhouse.

I'm really enjoying the JB Double Oak. I was pleasantly surprised as I don't care for their standard white label expression. That second barreling really gets rid of the "off notes". It's been out less than a month and I'm already 1/2 way through my second bottle.

Ploughing through a bottle of Michter's US1 that was bought as a gift. It's alright, nothing special but not entirely offensive either.

To quote a famous/infamous American, I feel your pain.  It was fine, but at the price, I could have done better.  But then, that's why we try stuff.  And I wouldn't be surprised to hear that, in a few years, they are making remarkable stuff.

Today is Monday, and, it is raining.  Yesterday, both the Skins and the Nats lost.  And, on Saturday, I turned over six cubic yards of compost.  That took me four hours - no sense rushing into something.  I sat down most of the time and used a small pitchfork.  SO, today just caps a darn fine weekend, and tomorrow the electricity will be off while an electrician upgrades and expands our electrical panel.  WHAT COULD GO WRONG??

I started on a really short hit of OGD BIB in my trash can next to my chair, but nothing on TV grabbed me.  (C'mon, TCM, show me some Bowery Boys!!).  After moving stuff out of the utility room so the electrician can get in there tomorrow, I decided I needed a treat.  Basic BT with its 90 proof candy apple finish is really hitting the spot.  I sure hope I don't have to grill anything tonight.  I don't trust myself with matches when I feel this good.

ER10... in significant doses...

I have been trying to find some ER10.  My last two store visits (different stores) yielded nata.    I could have bought a 1.75 but I am not sure I can fit it in the cupboard, box or trunk.  The last few bottles have been excellent.

I agree, ER10 has been sublime of late!  I've recently converted to the handles myself, so... you should just go ahead and walk off the plank with me.

On topic:  I'm currently enjoying a beautiful pour of Baker Beam's favorite.

You talked me into it. Dug out the ER10 that I had forgotten about because it was a couple rows deep back in the cabinet.

Really loving it tonight.

I was graciously given a sample of William HeavenHill by a fellow SBer and I must say it is might fine! So smooth and complex. Most certainly something I will have to try and make a trip to BHC to get one sometime in the near future.

Yesterday was Monday and it finally was raining.  After dinner, sat down with two fingers of straight BT (very nice) to celebrate the Pats win on Sunday and finished a bottle of OWA with a small piece of fudge brownie (unbelievably good) to honor the Sox win over the Orioles last night!  Life is, indeed, good.  Going back to bed now.   ;)

Opened a bottle of Henry Mckenna BIB which is fantastic.  Gonna have to spend more time with this one.

Agreed! The Henry McKenna BIB is my current favorite. So complex and spicy. My state ran it on sale in August, and I picked up three bottles @ 25ea. all from different barrels bottled at different times of year. Hoping to do a side by side to experience any differences. There's not too many single barrels I could afford to do that with. A 10 year old, Single Barrel, BIB for under $30? Doesn't get much better value than that.

The nose was pretty good, the rest was just ok. Would be great value at half the price.

Speaking of remarkable, I had the chance recently to try the 20 year old single barrel, very kindly provided by a friend. It was indeed remarkable.
