Started off last evening with a pour of 1792 High Rye. That was very good--it tastes like a serious rye bourbon, or a bourbony rye. Good stuff. Then moved on to a newly opened Kilchoman single cask release, sherry butt, 59.6%, and that was really impressive for being on the younger side.

This past week, while away on business, I had a small pour FRSmB LE 2016. I thought it was pretty good, maybe a little short on the finish, but still good.

If your single cask Kilchoman was anything similar to the cask strength 2016 USA East Coast Tour Kilchoman Machir Bay (120.2 proof), you had a great finish to the evening.

Like flahute, I also had a "craptastically bad day at work".  So SWMBO and I went to a very nice restaurant in Wayland to split a monster slab of rare prime and a caesar salad with Blanton's neat (me) and a Glenfiddich 15 with one tiny rock of ice (her).  Then went over a new restaurant and bar in Framingham for another round of the same.  While the fantastic Blanton's didn't wash the day away, I did feel great this morning!   ;)

Mixed it up last night, so not just bourbon.  PVW 20 was in the lead off slot.  Shared a sip with my wife without telling her what it was, and she was able to tell it was 'really good'.  Then some MWND Act 4 after dinner.  Finished up with a Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Finish for a night cap.  All very different, All good.

I think Kilchomen is making the best stuff on Islay. Made with such quality that the young stuff is amazing.

Last night had a big pour of Stagg Jr, the batch before the new one. Now that its been open for a couple months & is only 1/3 full, the overwhelming pepper in the palatte has given way to heavy tobacco with carmel, chocolate, & cherry. Not hot neat. Really liking it.

After a long day a nice 2oz pour of vintage 17. Best drink I have had in the last month at least.

Bill has been stocking up for a while in anticipation of this event. As a member of his training staff, he was well prepared. Although I am sure the bunker did take a hit, I have no doubt it will be restocked in no time.

Aaah yes you've been quite a helpful enabler - no fear the bunker is well stocked even though I am trying to drink it down however bringing in 14 bottles last week while emptying 4 means my life expectancy must be expanding as well..  that count doesn't include the bottles you are holding for me...

On topic - I started working on clearing another bottle last night which was WSR - this one is a 1.75 about half full so it may take a bit longer -

Oh and the MIL has left the building - saw her off earlier this morning

Enjoyed my first glass of Henry Mckenna 10yr Bib last night. I will definitely be picking a bottle up soon.

I bought a bottle of this to our office pre-Xmas Shenanigans and it got wiped out by a few stalwarts.  Really tasted great to me and to the other assembled enthusiasts.  A bottle of Makers 46 remained 3/4 full...

This is liquid gold right here, from the nosing to the finish! I'm still sipping on my pour from the photo, I'm taking my time with this bad boy.

I'm sure it's not 2007 good, but did you taste the 2015?

GBS ECBP "Amnesia Bottle" is keeping me toasty on this wet and chilly Saturday afternoon.  15 years of thick, chewy, marzipan, and oaky goodness...

Enjoying a pour of PHC 2012 (BoM). Had this baby hidden in a corner of the cabinet. Luscious, rich dark sweetness and spice is perfect on a chilly, rainy day.

This bottle here will rival anything out there. Having a nice pour while cooking some chicken & sausage gumbo.

Not starting a pissing contest or want to showing off with this. :)It's beautiful bottle but I was tired to watch it, so I decided to open it. It's my last one. Like I said, I gonna take my time with it.

By the way, 1792 FP store pick, must be something too??

We don't have acess to the full proof here, only the small batch.

Have a nice evening Jeff.

Cheers!

Went out and worked some today - retail multi unit management - let me tell everyone... don't go unless you have to!  It's madness on the roads - luckily none of my stores are in malls, you can't even exit off the interstates near those...

Came home, pruned a couple of trees and now I'm going to start the pours with

EC23

EC18 - both of these are in my line of sight as I type this and open so I'm being tempted

WSR

and where it goes from there? who knows!

Been years since I had it but a buddy of mine left behind a bottle of Maker's.. having a huge pour over ice. Spicier than I remember. Interesting to revisit.

Cheers all!

Did ECBP used to be in the private barrel program? I've seen the regular EC private picks of course, just not the BP.

I still have 2 2015 WLW's in the bunker. Some of the best whiskey ever made.

The 1792FP is very new. The Single Barrel's are hard to come by. This particular barrel has a great nose, chock full of flavor, super easy to drink, & the finish just last forever. Couldn't ask for more.

Cheers, Jeff

I have tried the 2015 WLW Will. I was given a small sample by a fellow member here. It's good. Very good. Probably better than the 2007.  Let me explain.

Other than myself, no one else has really said much about the 2007 WLW. It seems to be kinda the "runt of the litter" in comparison to all the other WLW's to date. Maybe it's because it's the lowest proof offering so far, or maybe it's something else. Whatever the reason, almost everyone prefers other years to the 07. I may be the odd duck when it comes to the 07. I'm not sure what it is, but I absolutely love it, and for the life of me I can't explain why.
