Just cracked a bottle of ER10 for the first time in over a year with some family before our Christmas party this evening and am glad I have 2 more bunkered. Just an amazing pour, and such a quality bourbon for the price!

Having some Rebel Yell 10yr SB. This is really quite nice and I know it had gotten favorable reviews, but I am still pleasantly surprised. It hasn't been released in VA yet, but when it is, I will see if I can track down another 1 or 2. It's a great buy at the $42 it will be sold for in VA once the state finally gets their act together and releases it. Hopefully it's not a lottery item.

I'm opening the evening with a gift shop Maker's 46 Cask Strength while chili simmers on the stove

Did ECBP used to be in the private barrel program? I've seen the regular EC private picks of course, just not the BP.

Steve, it hasn't been offered in the barrel program.   Just, right place at the right time.

Well, I'm experimenting again.

I'm having a couple of pours of a 50:50 vatting of Lot B and Weller 12. To quote Aristotle: "The whole is greater then the sum of its parts." So far, these two seem to be counterbalancing each other rather nicely. ^_^

Cheers! Joe

Which cask strength bottle do you prefer between regular Maker's and the 46?

Louisiana: your fault...1792 FP after two hours of shoveling heavy snow.  Followed by CEHT Barrel Proof 134.5%.  Can't feel the pain in my back anymore!!  CEHT gets the nod, but damn..two fine bourbons.

This bottle here will rival anything out there. Having a nice pour while cooking some chicken & sausage gumbo.

Bread, cookies and booze.  Can't go wrong there!  I was never a fan of the standard RR or the rebranded 1792.  However, I have a single barrel 1792 that is one of my current favorites.  An SBer turned me onto a barrel proof single barrel but I haven't been able to make it over to pick one up.  Hopefully, soon...if they aren't all gone.

George Dickel Hand Selected Barrel 9yr for me this afternoon.  I really like this one and hope to pick up a couple more bottles soon for the bunker.

I bought my fist bottle of Elmer T Lee yesterday. What a great tasting bourbon, has a bit of complexity to it. If it had a thicker a mouthfeel it would be an absolute homerun for me. A real pleasant sipper.

Mrs and Littlesmokinjoe are baking chocolate covered cherry cookies and the smell got me thinking of a good Weller.  So, pulled out a paper label 7yr OWA.  Big cherries in this one.  Though, I like the new proposed Weller label better than what it is replacing, I still like this version better.

Started with some rum, Mt Gay XO, then some Bernheim, then an OBSK, and then the last pour to kill the Bernstein bottle. The rum and the OBSK were the clear winners. Well, I was the winner but I'm pretty much undefeated on whiskey nights. :)

Aaah yes you've been quite a helpful enabler - no fear the bunker is well stocked even though I am trying to drink it down however bringing in 14 bottles last week while emptying 4 means my life expectancy must be expanding as well..  that count doesn't include the bottles you are holding for me...

On topic - I started working on clearing another bottle last night which was WSR - this one is a 1.75 about half full so it may take a bit longer -

Oh and the MIL has left the building - saw her off earlier this morning

I do what I can to help that is for sure. While not bourbon, finished the last pour of some '14 THH this evening to get things started. It really seem like it got better the longer I had it opened, but it was time for it to go. Next we moved to a FRPS OBSK. To end the evening, I had a little regular BT. All is all, a very nice evening on the booze front.
