A little good news dropped in today, so decided to reach for something extra special to toast with.  The SB.Com selected HHSS-2.  Barrel Proof, 8 year old, wheated Heaven Hill bourbon, aged for an additional 27 months in Cognac barrels.  Luxuriously decadent from nose to finish.

I broke the cork to my bottle of Russells reserve 10-year-old...  so the only logical thing is to finish the bottle

Curious as to how long you've had that bottle. Seems to me that label went away about 5yrs ago or so. Darn good whiskey!

It being the holidays and all when I'm more inclined towards the wheaters, tonight's pours were ORVW10 and now some RY10yr SiB. Interestingly, I'm giving the nod to the RY tonight.

Weird......palate shift in the middle of the RY10yr pour pushed it firmly into the best pour of the two. So I'm revisiting the ORVW10yr and what'd'ya know? It's neck in neck with the RY10yr. Still leaning towards the RY though.

Probably 3 years. It's been open for about 6 months

Having a great pour of a 1792 SB store pick Full Proof. What a very good bourbon. I hope more liquor stores do FP barrel picks.

I have yet to see any, but hope to at some point.

Last day of Fall called for a nice pour of Four Roses SBPS OBSK. Upon first opening this bottle, I thought it was one of the worst FRSB I had ever tasted. But with some air it has gotten better and while it is no where close to some of my previous experiences with OBSK, it is at least closer to the regular single barrel instead of just something I wasn't sure I want to finish.

I was mistaken.  THIS should be on the empty bottle support group thread.  Cats needed their late night snack, so while I was in the kitchen . . .

BTW, I LOVED the Tony Bennett 90th birthday special which is why I paid no attention to the bourbon consumption or the cats whining for their snack.

Just saw a few bottles locally yesterday & no one at the store could tell me anything about it - going back today to find out for myself.
