What bourbon are you enjoying (Winter 2016/17)?

What're you guys paying for the OC8yr?  I see 750's occasionally for $13-15 which is an easy pass, but I have one line on handles for $19.99.  I think that's a good value....it's just the 80 proof keeping me away.  I should probably just give it a shot.

If either or both of those are the 8 year and not the 8 Season then I'd be on them. If it's the 8 season my advice is to steer clear and go for the old Charter 101 instead.

I agree. I dropped 30lbs though in about 90 days and didn't cut my bourbon consumption at all so I'm happy. My dr is as well

Congrats on the results Hop!! I'm guessing the lab results still say your blood is running at about 100-105 proof these days! Cheers to a clean bill of health.

I didn't change what I ate at all just how much of it - tried to only eat when I was hungry and only until I was full rather than clearing my plate as I was taught to do growing up.  The other thing that worked best is weighing in once a week and if I lost a little great, if I stayed the same or gained then I paid more attention to how much I ate and walked more.  The walking helped in many ways as I just feel better in general when I do it.   

 

No beer for me - never really cared for it as it's too filling, it's water, coffee, or bourbon to drink for me

 

Back on topic I finished the evening with a little taste of Old Kentucky 4 year old 80 proof - another dusty

El Vino, my wife and I were in Napa for our 30th wedding anniversary last year.  Had some outstanding wine but didn't see the Dunn you're showing.  I did taste the Bremmer Family Howell Mountain Reserve Cabernet while at their winery.  Let me just say that it was a religious experience.   I had some bottles of Hopper Creek shipped home.  You ever tasted it?

Yes but just by happenstance. I'm sure there are few subpar pre leather label, but the majority of leather neck tabs are being bottled pre maturely IMHO.

Glad you liked it. I didn't think yours tasted like dirt. Just thin and not fully blossomed yet. Plus that particular run of OBSO was stellar. That was one of the first ones bottled from warehouse US. The end of that run was JR's last gift shop bottle, a glorious nearly 12 year OBSO.

C&B:  I have not had it, but will seek it out.  I am pretty convinced that Howell Mountain on a sunny day is a glimpse of heaven.  I went to a harvest party thrown by Howell Mountain vintners in the 1980's.  Met Randy and Lori and so many others.  The wines they all brought in unlabeled bottles to share with the immigrants who helped during harvest were rustic and absolutely fantastic.  The food prepared by the immigrant pickers was equally amazing.

I can definitely recommend the Hopper Creek Cab & Chardonnay.  My wife liked their Sauvignon Blanc . . . well I did too.

Poured  'round an oz of OGD BiB  into a 2 oz pour of Old Bardstown estate. Old Bardstown lacks sweetness and ive seen some disparaging remarks said about it. First few pours almost turned me off but now that the bottle is half empty the air has done some good for it. It does pack some richness and some finish. The OGD did well rounded it out  and the finish was nice.
