What bourbon did you purchase today (winter 2016/17)?

A few years back, BT announced that because of the shortage of available stocks, many of their bourbons were going to be put on allocation. W12 was one of these. They said W12 would be released once a year at about the same time as the BTAC. Some folks swear that for a while now, W12 has been released at least twice a year. That could now be true. There's also the possibility that distributor's know what they have, and what the demand for it is. They just might hold back some items in their warehouses to dole out from time to time as they see fit. I'm pretty sure this happens sometimes. I know of at least a couple of places that have received some interesting things out of the blue with no rhyme nor reason. I believe that most distributors give a discount for case quantity orders. If they split up a case into two or three bottles here and there, they don't have to give the discount. I'm almost willing to bet that many distributors have been making a  s**t load of money from the "boom". <_< Just my two cents FWIW.

Cheers! Joe

Ive heard from some of the local liquor stores that it is as you've described.  They'd obviously love to order a case and get the discount but are unable to.  The question is whether distributors are doing that are purpose to maximize profits or just trying to be fair and spread allocated bottles around.  I've mostly lost faith in humanity so I'm sure its a shitty corporation maximizing profits.

Plan on taking a pic of my score when the wife goes to sleep.

My wife never witnesses the bottles coming into the house or the photo taking either.  Amazing how that bunker just grows on its own!  Every so often I get asked "did you get another bourbon?"  Fortunately, I'm married to a very loving and understanding woman!

We operate under the "don't ask don't tell" policy in our home. She never asks where the bottles come from and I never tell her there's a hell of a lot more in the basement.

I get some deserved grief for my purchases. It is a reason that I plan to start a budget in April. I think I may budget $13 a week. I may do $15 a week.

Those odd numbers are hard to remember.  I would just go ahead and make it an even $50 a week.  That's much easier to remember. ;)

OK Rich... I'll try to explain a budget... So after you're done buying whiskey... the money you have left over needs to be spent on bills... Things like electricity, car payments and insurance, house payments, etc... you'll have to add those things up, and divide your remaining money amongst them. Those are things you'll have to budget for. If you have enough money to pay them all, you are within budget . Once all those things are paid for... if there's any remaining money you get to go buy a bonus bottle of whiskey, or if there's really an excess you might get to buy a new gun too... :D At least that's my understanding of how it works. If you are still unsure, contact your local congressman!

But all that is after buying the whiskey right? Okay. I think I can work with that.

I actually gave up purchasing for the Lenten season...which made my wife quite happy.  Hopefully, I can make it 40 days without waking into a liquor store.  I know it's only a short term solution....but baby steps first...

Not picking on ya' Rich. Well, maybe I am. ;) When I read your post, for some reason I thought of this quote. "Don't let your mouth write a check your ass can't cash."  Over the years I just might have written a questionable check here and there. FWIW, my posterior would probably agree.

Cheers! Joe

Probably paid just a bit too much at $45. They actually charged me $50 and had to refund $5 back when I realized I was overcharged.

I would happily pay $50 for a bottle if I found one. I paid $7.50 for a pour of it at a bar on Saturday and I thought it was delicious.

$45 is a good price. I've usually seen it around at $50. When VA ABC had it it was $47.99, so I'd have to imagine that's right around MSRP.
