What bourbon did you purchase today (winter 2016/17)?

I think I'm good on OWA for a while. Wanted to stock up as it appears the distributer here in Houston got a recent shipment. Found $42 handles. Plan is to deplete the handle first and buy more handles from a place that had several and they don't seem to move. Than refill my new 750ML bottle. I've got 6 750ML should be good for quite some time.

Also snagged another EC with 12 yr statement on the back. OFSig.

Picked up a new one for me....Johnny Drum Private Stock. Never seen it in NC before. Mid-$30's.

I've had it a few times also. I say you need to cross your fingers and hope for the best. Some batches are great. Some are not. I've had both.

Grabbed a couple of OGD BIB. They've been rare on the shelves here lately. Felt like I came upon a bottle of pappy on the shelf. Anyone know when they changed from screw tops to corks? Thanks

I picked up a couple of regionals, a cask strength honey barrel wheater and a sourced bottle put out by the owner of Char #4.

@Clueby

nice find on the Barterhouse. That's getting tougher to find these days.

There were 2 or 3 more on the shelf, plus Forged Oak, Gifted Horse, and Rhetoric 22.

My store is scratching and clawing just to try and get one at the moment. Plus, were it not for the thoughtful kindness of John Glaser, we would have been shut out on a unique finished store bottling of GKS by Binny's. And they can't even be bothered to bend the law a tiny bit so I can get things shipped to me!

I think I hate Binny's. Where is the turd emoticon when you need it! :(

WhistlePig store pick at 119.5 proof; and the new J. Henry Bellefontaine Reserve (finished in Cognac barrels) at 103 proof.  Post business-meeting haul in the great state of Wisconsin.  Can't wait to taste these guys but have a ton of open bottles to get through first!

I know the feeling. I just realized today that I never got around to trying the bottle of J. A. Magnus that I bought in Jan. That new J. Henry looks tasty though. I'm curious to get your thoughts on it.

Is this one 80 proof?

That is an interesting bottle.  I can't really read the cursive writing so I am not sure what it says.  This makes me curse as my eyesight.  What does it say and where did you get it?

It is interesting. This was sent to me by a friend in Dallas that I believe obtained it in an estate sale, but I'm not 100% sure. He sent it to me in order to gloat (this is what my friends do when they come across something they don't think I have ???? ). I had no idea what I was looking at, TBH.

From what I can tell, after some googling, it's an Old Taylor Grecian decanter from the 1950's. That's the box next to it. The cursive appears to say EH Taylor & Sons.

I'm unsure of the age or proof. I assume a bottle like this would be pretty valuable, but I couldn't guess the number.

You should enjoy it. It is a bottle that will grow on you the more you visit it and let it open up. Hope you enjoy it!

Harry, if you put bottles in my car after tooth extractions; I would be far less reticent to go to the dentist. I'd also probably be on the fast track to a set of false teeth. [emoji579]

Stopped in the LS after work and as soon as I walked in the manager said, "I have something for you." He rummaged around behind the bottles on a middle Scotch shelf and produced an ECBP C916 (the Bourbon formerly known as batch 12)  He said it was the only one he got so he had to look up the price in the book. "$60?" He asked... SOLD!

Please don't do that...It's hard enough keeping things from getting confusing around here, already...

Well, I'll be.  Haven't seen that.  Thanks for correcting me.  Straight from HH, so it's the Word.

(Tip of my hat to you.)

Somehow, I ended up with a 1/5th of ODG BIB and a handle of O'Fitz BIB in my car today.

Harry!?!?!

They aren't mine.  I just checked.

And, that's a good thing.  I wondered where that 1792 FP I bought last month in Williamsburg VA had gone.  Spaces under seats are beautiful things, and that 1792 bottle just fit.

EDIT: I am still awaiting a special order of WT MK Decades.  One for me and one for an Army buddy; we went through Ranger School together decades ago and will be attending a reunion in a couple of months, so it is fitting.

It isn't the Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked, but it costs a fifth of the price and this bourbon tasted great to me in a blind tasting at a bourbon party a few weeks ago.

It was bourbon of the month a couple of months back. I too enjoyed it having already had the Woodford DO. Great value pour, even this side of the pond.
