What bourbon did you purchase today (winter 2016/17)?

I picked up bottles of BT, RittBiB, and, out of curiosity, EWBiB. The EW is drinkable good but more of a mixer than a sipper to my taste buds.

Give the ew another chance in a couple weeks. That is one I find tastes different on different nights

My pickups while I was in Kentucky this weekend, some was being held for me, others were picked up by others on my behalf, and some I bought while there.

Dayum! Way to go, Hop. That's enough to last me at least a year.

Nice purchases Bill. I see you grabbed a few BIB's, but no HH6?????

Cheers! Joe

I keep a case + of HH6 on hand at ALL times - just in case of emergencies :)

Helluva haul! Nice find on the EC grenades. I've never tried Old Charter, but by the looks of your picture; that is something that I need to change.

You should be aware that those Charters in the photo are 8 year age stated and are dusties.

Current Charter is Old Charter "8" and is not age stated.

Me too!  The year I'm buying for now is 2050 - to heck with the Bourbon Shortage we have now I'm planning for the future.  Planning for retirement in more ways than one

BTW the 1792's are all 8yr age stated, which is the reason I made the purchase.  Getting harder to find and buying the "family size" is always more economical

Thanks for the heads up, flahute.@flahute - Have you tried the NAS Old Charter? Is it markedly worse than the age stated Old Charter? I've never tasted Old Charter. I need to get a bottle.

I have and it's fine, but it's nowhere near what the old age stated versions were. It's only 80 proof so I only use it for vatting with Stagg Jr. to bring the proof down. The good thing about it is that it's dirt cheap.

I'm with you on the EW.  For sipping I do like the EWSB.  I think it's one of the best values in a single barrel.

Old Fitz BIB Handle came home today...  Looking forward to trying this guy out.

Just finished a pour of this before bed, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.  The consistency and value of a BiB with a wheater profile...what's not to like?  :D

That must be rough in the UK!  I'm at 8/10.  MIssing OBSK and OBSO I think.  Killed 2 bottles of OBSK a little over a year ago and hadn't found any near me to replace with.  I know there are some of both recipes up in Indy I just haven't made the drive with intention to get those yet.  Soon........

Yeah have been relying on auctions and relatives travelling to the US.

Not in any rush to collect... I'll get them all soon enough :D

I managed to get a 1L and a 750 through reddit trades recently.  Never see it on shelves by me.  I was so close I could taste it to acquiring a 1969 1 Gal OF BIB through a friend of a friend's mom.  They original wanted 500 then jumped up to 3k and 6k.  Was going to try to arrange a bottle split at 3k but bowed out after that.  Woe is me =(

I've got a 1994 VSOF, a 1995 OF Prime, and a 2001 OF BIB waiting for the day I organize my journey through the OF brand (along with current HH releases to compare to).  Reallllly looking forward to it one of these days but want to make an occasion out of and bring the crew in!

I'm stuck here in sleet-ridden Washington, DC on family business (came down a couple of days early to beat the snowstorm).  Lordy, there's a Virginia ABC store right next to my hotel in Herndon (I'd rather be lucky than good - thanks Harry in WashDC)!  Stopped in last nite to stock up and bought a bottle of John J. Bowman Single Barrel 100pf NAS (at least I can't find an age statement ) Virginia Bourbon.  Sure is a purty bottle, tho' - but these guys charge sales tax on brown liquor - THE NERVE!!!!!!!!!!   :P

This storm is taking a toll on the credit cards!!!  Just went out to the VA ABC store in Purcellville and bought two (2) bottles of 1792FP and a bottle of Belle Meade 9yr Single Barrel (105.1pf).  They join my purchase from yesterday of the John J. Bowman Virginia Bourbon.  The only question now is will they make it back up to Beantown intact??????   Idle time is bad, very bad.

I would put money against them making it home un-sipped

Unsipped is one thing. I think the concern is will the bottles all be bone dry before he departs! :D

It's not age stated but when I did a tour of the distillery the guide claimed that they're around 10 years (although obviously nothing is holding them to that).
