Pretty excited about this one.

I follow K&L’s releases pretty closely but I have no recollection of that one. The tasting notes sound fantastic, though - “If you can imagine the smells and flavors of fermenting malt, that combination of sour, sweet, and cooked grains, then combine those elements with scorched earth, heavy smoke, and burnt peat, then you'll begin to understand the power of this single bourbon cask of Ballechin”

I didn't even notice it was a K&L pick until after I posted it, the odd thing is I bought it at Gramercy Wine and Spirits in NY and it was the same price that I found when I searched for it on the K&L site. At the moment I am kind of obsessed with Ballechin, in the summer a buddy brought a bottle of 10 year Cask Strength Sauternes Cask which is one of the best pours I have ever had of any spirit. The regular release is pretty stellar in it's own right. I almost dropped more money on one of the NAS Discovery Series bottles (#2 Madeira Cask) until I saw this one for $10 less.

A quick run up to New York yesterday. I asked Park Avenue for the wackiest thing they had and came back with a 30 year 128.6 proof Single Grain Invergordon plus a few other high ABV stragglers.

Picked up a deliciously dark looking Ledaig 11 and a curiosity bottle.... Sacred Peated which is apparently 3 year old peated whisky from the English Whisky Co finished in PX hogsheads for a further 2 years. A bit gimmicky and 'craft' but was suggested by a shop I frequent and not having bought anything from them for a while thought it would be an interesting token purchase to keep in their good books.

The Masterclass 08.3, which at 61.2% ABV and peated to 309.1ppm effectively makes it the last pour of the evening.

I must be blind. Stared at that pic for 10 minutes and didn't see the 8.3 print.

Astor is having a 2 day Scotch sale, stopped by yesterday (added bonus of a few free pours of Laphroaig while I was there). Have been meaning to pick this up 15% off so what the hell.

Surprised to find the OP21 this morning at a LS I had just visited three days ago. It gets opened tonight.

A favorite of mine! Definitely a tough find since it was discontinued, hopefully they didn't jack up the price too much. The last I'd seen them, it'd gone from $100 to $180+

It was priced in the middle of your range-- so I thought it was one hell of a deal considering what 20+yo single malts are running these days. This particular LS often receives random solo semi-dusty bottles of single malt (such as Preiss Imports-era Springbanks) and prices them at rates from the same era. This is such a bourbon focused market, that the players will run past the $230.00 Talisker 25 to rip a dude's arm off for the last bottle of Blood Oath 3.

Well, if they need to off load some pre 2011 Tali 25 at, oh, say $200 a pop I am willing to do what I can to help out! OK, ok, for pre 2011 I could maybe do $230...

Alas, it was a 2013 T25 bottling at Talisker Strength-- but it did come with a nice pillow for the bottle.

The craziest thing that has popped up at two different (and unrelated) stores in town over the past year are these 2012 Kilchoman Single Bourbon Cask bottles. They don't even carry UPCs, which could explain how they got lost in the system. I've got three bottles now and it is incredibly visceral and delicious stuff.

First time I saw this for under $100 (just by a penny) and first time I couldn't stop myself from pulling the trigger.

Good decision Kevin!  That is some delicious stuff!   I can't tell by the picture, is that the cask strength version.  I've had both the cask strength version at >50% and another regular version in the 40%s.

57.1 from 2011 I think.

Couldn't pass up a PS Dalmore 18yo, NCF and natural color-- bottled at 57.6% ABV and a crazy 67.4% ABV Glenrothes 7yo…
