My girlfriend bought me a bottle of RHF for my birthday and being that I’ve only tasted it once before, had no choice but to uncork it immediately.

Better than I remember.

Delicious stuff (and wonderful gift)!

Man, goes to show how different tastes (and maybe different barrels) can be. Along with a ECBP, the Stagg Jr. and JD SBBP are my absolute favorite bottles I have open at the moment.

I know right?  I so want to like the Stagg Jr.  It smells soooo good and I love just about everything else that BT produces.   I did get a little of the afterburn from the JDBP, but not nearly as strong as from the Stagg.  It is really strange.  I also am a big fan of ECBP.  Recently got a few of the C917 batch that is 131pf.  Was going to wait until I finished by bottle of B517, but now I am curious to try the higher proof and see what my thoughts are.

Honey worked very well in the Old Fashioned.

I'm probably one of the few who opened my bottle...

Some days it's really darn good, other days it's like a bad date.

Today is a good day.

:)

After a long day working on my Ford, it was time for a cigar and some bourbon.  Started with EC 18, moved on to OESK.  Those inspired me to crack open this bottle that's been waiting in the bunker for too long.

Nice mouthfeel and long finish.  Not too shabby.

I like it, is it worth the premium (even less the charitable bit) probably not for me but I was worried that it would come off like a neutered EC BP and I do prefer the Parker's so there is that.

Funny that I often use banana when describing the flavor of both these bottles.

But they taste nothing alike sbs.

A second pour of VBT 613 because Mrs Mako picked a good one out of the cabinet and this is a real treat.

An open bottle is a happy bottle, be careful with this one, it's so good that I've killed half of it very quickly, took it with me on a trip to the mountains, it warms you up nicely when it's cold outside. Enjoy!

Solid pour, this batch starts to show up in Europe, had a sample of it, good not exceptional, does the job if you're paying the right price for it. A great bang for your buck. Cheers!

Ha, thanks and yes she is (got me a THH for Christmas).

Nothing like opening up a new bottle you’ve been waiting on.

Blanton's Gold to celebrate the birth of our grandson and the arrival of reinforcements from MoM in the UK.  Perfect for a rainy day pour before attending a tasting of Kavalan Taiwanese whiskies with Ian Chang, Master Distiller, tonite.  Looking forward to this one and getting my bottle of L&K pick Ex-Bourbon Finish signed by the guy who made it.  Life is truly good.   :D

I know it's a little early for a barrel strength poor, but it's my 37th birthday, sooo...

I also have 3 racks of ribs on the Big Green Egg. It's going to be a great evening.

Been enjoying the effects of some HH6yrBIB in hot toddys all week.  Silver lining is to have the cold out of the way BEFORE Bardstown, although tomorrow I may turn in early.

Buffalo Trace Experimental Collection - 12 year Floor 1, 90 proof. Not bad....sweet and oaky. Tastes like a good store pick of regular BT, with a little more oak influence.

Is this becoming a regular thing with you?

Dude - I'm @#$% sick and tired of getting sick either right before, right after, or right AT the GN in the spring or fall.  I don't know what the hell it is with this timing, but I'm over it (and loading up on coffee as I type - see y'all later today!)
