Extremely bummed that work has forced me to last minute cancel my trip to Sampler.  So deep consoling is needed, this afternoon.

It’s been a while since I reached for this one. Hello, old friend.  I love the nose on it, only to be surpassed by the syrupy feel and taste on the palate.

My neighborhood restaurant had WLW 2017 listed for $18 on their printed list, so that was an easy choice. Unfortunately, it rang up in the system for $40, so I changed it up and picked the Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Rye. The manager came over to apologize for the misprint, and gave me a very generous pour of their 1792 Single Barrel private pick for free. Delicious, especially once I put the last sip of the RR rye into the last half of the 1792

A little vat of Stagg Jr. (an older batch) with some AAA10* (36 month age stated).

It works. Very well.

Opened a KC SiB PS 12 year after getting to help pick another KC Barrel.  The samples included a 10 year that had a tremendously long finish, a 14 year that seemed kinda unexciting, and a 14 that had great depth of flavor, an oily mouthfeel, a long finish, and great woody notes.  The 3rd was picked, but it was close with the 10 year.

The local bourbon bar just got this in.  After missing out on last year's batch, I was really glad to have several pours of this one.  Fingers crossed that I can find a bottle of my own this year.

Haha sorry!

I have a few in the bunker but will pick up some more. I have a feeling it's going to be scarce round these parts soon for some reason..

Drinking some SAOS 11yr low proof, a sample form a buddy who lives in Missouri, after that I’m killing the AH Hirsch 16 sample, sounds like a nice evening. Cheers!

Last Weekend was a hot one (by our standards) and the first warm weekend of the year. I was reminded then how good OGDBIB is out of the refrigerator. We're back to cold and rainy this weekend but that didn't stop me from going back to the fridge. OGDBIB just seems to be made to be served cold.

Enjoyed the Baker's so much last night that I'm going back in.

Ok, it's not an understatement to say that I just love Baker's.  I realized that I needed to update the 'recommendations' section on my SB profile to include Baker's.  Haha.

Seriously though, although I've always liked it, I used to think that it's a bit overpriced.  Even though the price has creeped up a little recently, I've come to realize that even at the higher prices ($40-ish in Texas)  I think it's totally worth it.  I guess it just hits a sweet spot for me in terms of age and proof.  Unlike with Knob Creek and Booker's, I get zero "Beam Funk" with Bakers, ever.

If you have never tried it, I highly recommend you rectify that situation soon!
