Let's do the math: Joe has a handle and a half plus most of a 750, it's the weekend, and we leave for Bardstown next Wednesday morning . That's cutting it pretty close so I'll still plan on bringing the balance of my sample :P

Apologies, for confusion.  Probably should have posted in the Vatting Thread where "ER101" discussion was.  I just wanted to show off my new glass and did not want to double post.

This is a mix of a store pick ER and Stagg Jr approximately 3:1, calculated at 100.8 proof or as close to 101 as I could reasonably make.  The exact recipe and math is in the vatting thread.  Highly recommend this blend. . . and this glass!

Sounds delicious to me!  Thanks for the info, I'll have to try it.

Double Booker's at the Atlanta airport-- the gal is apologizing that it's 15 bucks.

As a side note-- I just watched a grown man order a Bailey's on ice. To each his own.

Speaking of a "grown man," I'd say a double Booker's fits the bill.  Well done

WT101 until last night when I finished it. Had some in a cocktail while out to a special lunch today as well.

Seemed like a good idea at the time-- worked out much better than the evening I had back-to-back-to-back doubles of FR Al Young at the hotel bar and proceeded to go clothes shopping.

Been saving the last of this bottle for my birthday-- so seemed like a perfect way to break in my new SB.com Glencairn.

How about "What Bourbon are you NOT enjoying"  Picked this up a few days ago.  Bulleit 10 year.  I really enjoyed this over the last several years.  The last bottle I bought was 2 to 3 years ago, and I kept some of that in a few sample bottles.  This 10 year has been running about $45, so when I seen it for $33.99 I bought one.  Hoping it was still going to contain the stock from Four Roses.

Well the short story is that it does not.  Gone is the signature taste of the 4R with the perfect spice, sweetness & that hint of Cherry.  Instead this reminds me very much of the standard Bulleit of which I ever only purchased one bottle.  Since I still had some from the last bottle of the 10 year I did a SBS, and I could not find any similarity.  This now is very pedestrian  bourbon.  The Oak is somewhat overpowering and the flavors are muddled and begging for sweetness and character (just as I remember their standard offering)

The ECBP expressions are tasty, but for some reason I prefer this one by a wide margin. Maybe it's the balance/harmony.

One more pour & you could have gone shopping without clothes, instead...

Happy Birthday & hello to my old home town...

Braves on the radio and a fire going.  Figured I needed some triticale in my diet, so Beam 6 Grains it is...;)   Thankfully, Beam threw in some brown rice, malt barley, rye, and wheat, to go along with the corn...Nice whiskey, but really yearns for some oats, then we could get a sweet game of “Pit” going...  :D

Regardless, this is a thick whiskey with a nice mouthfeel and chewiness.  Fair amount of woodinees on the finish, despite its 6ish year age.  No Beam house style that I can detect.

I swore off the JB Sigs a couple years ago as they started to run together in my memory.  It looks like it is time to pick up this one.  Six years and six grains, even at 88+ proof, may be complex enough to keep me interested.  THANKS.

Not usually into the wheaters, but after a two week hiatus thanks to allergies, a little WSR is hitting the spot tonight.

I wish it had been that cut and dry-- certainly a good learning experience.
