Speaking of door duty  on a CULT night - we usually get close to 100 Trick or Treaters every Halloween.  Neighborhood starts with a pizza party then the kids are parceled out.  SO -

After I scarfed down my two pieces of cheese pizza, I handed out stuff with serial sippings of 4R Pvt Selections:

One oz. OBSK 52.6% 10 yr 29 days with one cube

followed after pizza with

One oz. OESV 59.2% 10 yr 2 mos. 29 days with one cube

followed, after turning out the lights, locking the door, and getting ready to move upstairs for the nonce, by

TWO oz. OBSO 55.7% 11 yr 6 mos.  HeckuvaTreat.  Can't remember if I put a cube in it.

Hey Harry, Ya' know that memory is the second that goes when you get up to our age - it has nothing to do with the amount of bourbon we consume.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!   ☺️

And what's a "nonce"??????

I ‘dad taxed’ all of the Heath bars from my daughera haul. Pairing well with the OBSK.

I'm a collector of the 'daddy tax' in our household as well.  This morning my 3 year old said, "I'm tired of the daddy tax."  Get used to it, kiddo.  Death and taxes...

I've said it once, and I'll say it again.

I want to be Harry when I grow up.

Don’t do it. It’s a trap!   :P

Jan 18 bottling of Japan WT101 8. Drier and less sweet than the current US NAS, and the additional age is obvious with distinct leather and wood notes. Enjoying this, but personally enjoy the current NAS as much, maybe more, as a regular pour. IMG_20181101_222953.thumb.jpg.97cc2c6717c198783d3bd599a919a57d.jpg

Almost done with this bottle.

That’s become on of my everyday/always open bottles. It’s about the only BT product other that BT and Stagg Jr I can readily get.

Good story, that is.  I'm going to keep it in mind.  Maybe.  If I'm lucky.

Merriam-Webster says "nonce", an adjective, has two meanings - (1) [for the] particular occasion; (2) [for the] time being.  Either worked on Halloween.  More than you wanted to know about it copied from M-W online:

[quoting]  Nonce first appeared in Middle English as a noun spelled "nanes." The spelling likely came about from a misdivision of the phrase "then anes." ("Then" was the Middle English equivalent of "the" and anes meant "one purpose.") The word was especially used in the phrase for the nonce, meaning "for the one purpose," as in Geoffrey Chaucer's "Prologue" of Canterbury Tales: "A cook they hadde with hem for the nones To boille the chiknes with the marybones." The adjective "nonce" did not exist in print until the publication in 1884 of the New English Dictionary on Historical Principles (which later became the Oxford English Dictionary). The editor of that dictionary, James Murray, created the term "nonce-word" as a label for "words apparently employed for the nonce." [end quote]

EDIT - THAT made me thirsty.  Happily, I am sitting in a chair, next to which is a trash can that just happens to have a bottle with some OGD BIB in it.  AND, I just happen to have a Tervis tumbler with some ice in it.  So, even though it is not yet 5 PM . . .

Validation studies for old results are still important.

Went to a local grocery store's BTAC dinner tonight. Got to taste all 5 BTAC expressions for the first time in one sitting. Was actually my first time for ER17. I was a little disappointed that it was all from the 2017 BTAC collection as I thought it was going to be 2018. The food was amazing. Wagyu beef for the main course. Also had several cocktails throughout the dinner as well. They had a lottery for some BTAC bottles and some harder to get bottles. You got $10 off a bottle other than BTAC so I walked away with a $46 Blanton's and a free bottle of BT.  Was a fun time. It was an early birthday present from SWMBO.

Welcomed the weekend in with a small pour of some ORVW 10yr. That was quickly followed up with a fresh pour from an older bottle of WT Rare Breed. I forgot I still had a bottle of the older 112.8 proof in the bunker. It really is a pleasant surprise when you find bottles you forgot about when you go looking to restock the bar!
