I wonder if this is the same Whitmeyer who 4-1/2 years ago ripped SB with the most obscenity laced, psychotic and racist rant I've ever seen posted here. If it is, I hope no one buys his whiskey. It's also ironic he's sourcing it.

If I'm wrong, I sincerely apologize

My wife and I took a drive up to Cedarburg Wisconsin a few weeks ago. Cedar Creek winery is there. It is part of the Wollersheim winery/group. The lady at the counter there told me they were working on a bourbon. I reckon she was telling me the truth. ;)

Interesting.......a single barrel from a sourced small batch and bottled by Strong Spirits in Bardstown. Barrel proof at exactly 50% abv? What are the odds of that?

I really appreciate that they show the mashbill, might be an interesting one to try at a bar/restaurant.

Proof can change from what is listed on the COLA so the 50% is likely a placeholder. Strong Spirits has done a few different releases under this branding and they have been very popular in the NY market, not sure about elsewhere.

Geez, by now you'd think I'd understand the proof aspect of their application . Thanks for setting me straight!

Regarding this one...

"this Japanese Single Grain uhh...... caught my eye"

I found out the name of this whisky means "impossible". Bought it a few years ago and it's surprisingly good for a rice whiskey, very bourbony, but like a lower proof lighter flavored bourbon.

I've liked the Fukano and Ohishi rice whiskies I have had, it's an interesting category for sure.

I've got a Ohishi single barrel sherry cask here. It's good and very unique. It tastes like a musty old basement filled with wine casks, in a good way.

Should have been barrel proof.

You never know it could be, the proof on the label is one of the few things that can change from what is submitted.

Not sure what you mean, I don't see that on the label though at 100 proof and from a single barrel it would meet most of the requirements, they would need to list the DSP's involved Distilling/Bottling as well. IIRC the single barrel bourbons they do are at least sometimes barrel proof.

I definitely misspoke. I was reading it and the new Remus and mixed them up

I live pretty close to the Dennings Point Distillery, so am hoping they will have tastings of the Single Barrel Cask Strength when/if it becomes available. I swing by every so often for tastings, but have never purchased a bottle, which says something I guess.

I've picked up the sourced 8 Year 104 proof (corn) whiskey they have sold it's like an amped up Mellow Corn to me, I've also gone through a couple bottles of Maid in the Meadow for cocktails. I like Beacon and usually take a train up a few times a year.
