I do like this but can’t continue to reiterate I wish these JD BP SB picks had a little more age. In there huge inventory of barrels Jack has to have some barrels over 5 years that would be good for this?

Had some RYSB 10yr last night it was really good. Wish I was that guy that cleared the shelf when I saw it a couple years ago for $45.

Hopefully Luxco has some decent aging stock for this and continues to offer it. Doubtful and even more doubtful they’ll get anymore with HH releasing its own 9+ year Old Fitz BIB.

I think based on things I have read that Luxco's relationship with HH isn't really buying barrels as needed but closer to contract distillation and storage, so their available stocks would kind of be predetermined. I also seem to recall that Luxco sources from other distilleries including Beam but of course none of this is really formally disclosed.

116.8.

"minds blown" that was my reaction after sitting out the 112 round and being a bit skeptical that 116 could trump 108, well , it is my current title holder for best standard issue readily available  bourbon ( and IMHO it kicks the ass of plenty of semi/un availables as well).

It just keeps getting better. I thought the 112 was better than the 108, and the 116 better than both.  And this is definitely not to say either of the first two were anything short of wonderful.

Tonight is SB Blend.  I needed it after trying, for the third night in a row AND in keeping with my SB resolutions, to consume at least SOME of the clunkers I had moved to the front of the shelves so I could use them up.  Tonight, the craft bourbon I picked was just not drinkable.  Last night it was barely tolerable which was a marginal improvement over the night before that.  So, I poured it out.  Maybe that should be a new resolution - no fair buying/drinking new stuff until a comparable amount of a clunker is consumed/used in sauces or other cooking/labeled as a solvent/dumped.

Just a small pour of FR OESK. At 10yrs 4 months, this is still off from what I remember K yeast to taste like most of the time. Some nights it is really good like it was on Saturday. Tonight, meh, just an average pour. I will probably try and get a second bottle to continue my research to solve the problem.

Hmmm...so in other words, it’s really good, but you don’t want to give it too much praise until you’re able stock up on some more of it! [emoji6]

Some RR store pick again tonight. I’m liking this one a lot more than I did a few weeks ago. Orchard fruits on the nose and palate, coming in very nicely. Probably should keep it down on my growing Turkey love. I can still find this unlike things like BT MB#2. Than again the Russel’s and Campari seem to have a better grasp on demand forecasting and can probably handle the spike a lot better.

I wish/hope JB decides to eliminate the limited part of this and just make it a constant release.  For me this is perfect when I want a non barrel proofer that can be a little rough (in a good way).  For the money it's a perfect winter supper.

Ha, I wish that was the case. Or is it I need to find a case of this! Seriously, some pours of this are good and others it just seems average. I remember K yeast knocking it out of the park 2 years ago, and this one seems flat. My faith in FR has been declining and this is not help it. I just wish I could have a solid opinion on this one and I can't.

I opened up a new EC 18y tonight, not bad at all. Very good. CF04ACF4-9FE0-4E6F-96CD-C4F6C07C995F.thumb.jpeg.e6de5edf51f736a81b7213eec0dbfdd4.jpeg

I like your highball looking glass. Also is that a scratched out TABC sticker on your BT bottle?

Went to a going away party for my boss at a bar here in Houston. All drinks $3 3-4 pm, $4 4-5 pm and $5 5-6 pm. Nothing to great on the whiskey side but had a couple Scotches, Dalmore 15 and Balvenie 15. Both where ok but liked Balvanie, much more interesting. Had a Larceny for the first time after the Scotch. I actually liked it more than the scotch. That being it tasted light body and kind of flat and boring. Surprised as I liked other HH wheaters more such as OFitz BIB.

I decided to switch gears just a little this evening. Old Rip 10 in the glass tonight.

Earlier this evening, I had a couple of pours of another one of my blends. No, it wasn’t my 2018 WellerBlend, but it was a Weller Blend. I had low fill, old label bottles of Weller SR,12, and Antique open, so I decided to blend them. No precise measurements or anything for this one. I just threw ‘em all together. ^_^ Yeah, it’s pretty darned good. :P

Speaking of your WellerBlends, Joe, have you started to put together your 2019 version yet?
