Marekv8
Not a purchase-- but a new arrival. A great restaurant I frequent in CT recently hosted a vintage spirits tasting which I was unable to attend, so the generous owner sent me the last few pours of this antique Antique. Such a nice surprise. I know, it's probably counterfeit.
Obeezy1Kaneezy
This week’s pick up’s... The OFBB was certainly a nice surprise. The Nicholson 1843 was on clearance for $17.99 so I couldn’t pass that deal up. Hopefully there will still be some next time I’m going through there. Not sure why I didn’t buy a couple more. They had six cases of it, but it’s about 4.5 hours away, so not just down the road.
Clueby
TRIED to buy a regular bottle of BT today but everyone seemed to be out. That's the 1st time I've run into that in this market in several years.
Mako254
This delivers. I didn’t want to like it. Was kinda grumpy about $49 for a 375. It is like a Camp Nelson Rare Breed. Eddie’s fingerprints show up.

elmossle
Man was it an expensive day on the hunt. Went looking to pickup multiples of FR OESK but they only had one left even though the website said 17. However, I was rewarded with WTRR Store Picks being on sale 2 for $75 when they are normally $56 each. After the clerk working the register confirmed the price, I ran back to the shelf and grabbed 2 more bringing home 4 total. I decided to throw in a SB pick of both regular BT and EC for good measure as well. Bunker happy. Me happy. Wallet and the wife....not so much.

I suppose he meant they didn’t select the barrels? If I purchased it I figured it would be a novelty for the label and never get opened. Instead I used the funds on staple drinkers; PS KCSB, HMK10, WT101, and JB 12 Signature Craft. Fantastic stuff for the price IMO. I agree, this is good stuff and it is getting hard to find in my area.

Let me know how that KCSB is.

Early info on the WBC series indicated that the Russell’s were not involved. See this thread below. Of course, this was always Russell distilled whiskey that was presumably blended by others to replicate Pre pro profiles on the first two label releases. Perhaps, the Russell’s are more involved in the final creation in this Saffell release. Regardless, this series has always seemed like a cluster F$&! to me.

My 1st impression was good but I need a little more time with it. The KC pick is a 9 year which is the youngest I’ve seen.

For what its worth, I was at WT last weekend and they were serving the Saffell in the bar on-site. I didn't listen to the spiel but consider that as some acknowledgement. pouringwhiskey
I figured I would give this Early Times BiB a shot at $25/1L, ER doesn't show up often around here, so I grabbed a backup. I have to say I am surprised with the ETBiB, while not great, I was expecting a lot less for $25.

While I can't say it is necessarily one of my new favorites, it is hard to beat for the price and availability. It is very very sweet in my opinion, which can be off-putting at times, but overall it is quite enjoyable. I'm still trying to develop my palette - on that note, my fiance got me a tasting notebook for Christmas and I have been trying to fill out a page for each of my bottles. For one reason or another I was able to pick more flavors out of this bottle than any others so far.

This kind of makes sense to me, in my opinion I tend to pull a bigger variety of flavors from younger bourbons than older ones at a certain point the Oak notes (Smoke/Char/Tobacco even Vanilla to some degree) kind of take over and mute everything else.

FacePlant
Do you like store pics? I like store pics. The Weller was not a SP but most or all of the rest are. Two RRs, one a B and the other K. Since I'm not a 4Rs fan I don't know which one that is. Jeff probably knows. The most incredible 1792FP EVER. No really. Courtesy of a popular Germantown LS. I picked up the newest on the floor today-the 10yr+ EC.

I almost always drink neat, but one or two ice cubes (good ice from a purchased bag from the store) really just makes it shine. Dollar for value, I like this a hair more than Old Forester 100p.
