Pizza and beer tonight to kick off the weekend. Abraxas is almost as chewy as the pizza. This stuff is THICK. It's a bit over the top flavor-wise for me.

  • 3 weeks later...

WooHoo!  Braves and Astros on the radio.  7 lb butt on the smoker, and a Bud Light on a gorgeous sunny and 60 degree afternoon.  Only bad thing is that Angel Hernandez will probably be his usually horrible self behind the plate...  :D

One thing all baseball fans can agree on

Man geuze beer is good. I know it’s not a very easy to produce style but surprised it hasn’t been reproduced by others.

Poured a 2017 Tweak stout to start the evening. Man, this is a good stout.

It’s March, so getting in the St. Paddy’s day mood.  One of the really simple but beautiful things around is a well poured Guiness and the thick surge of bubbles it creates.  No tap in my house, but the cans have the nitrogen ball in them that helps re-create the effect at home.  Enjoying the show now.  And the beer is really nice, too.

A KBS with some home made chili. Not shown is the peanut butter bread I always have to have with chili (anyone else?!).  Kinda hard to tell there is chili under all the cheese, crackers, and hot sauce. It all worked really well together.

One of my favorites. A Heavy Seas Imperial Chocolate Stout aged in bourbon barrels. Found this 2017 still on the shelves last week.

Did a SBSBS tonight with 2019, 2018, and 2017 KBS. I was pretty surprised at how much the sharp coffee notes mellow out with aging. The 19 is good but has a lot of bitter coffee and chocolate smacking you in the face. The 18 is way more subdued and creamy. The 17 was lighter and creamier but seemed to suffer a bit as it was flatter tasting with a bit of funk to it. The 18 was by far the clear winner.

Had them with some homemade fried crappie and hush puppies. A redneck fish n chips.

And...now I'm really tired.

Obligatory green beer.

Don’t judge me...

Time to sit down for a little NCAA tourney hoops, hoping some reverse psychology is in order to hope my bracket has not been blowed up into Zombie Dust...like most years 5 hours into Day 1... ;)

Pilsners were made for beautiful days like today.  And this Krombacher Pils is about as good as it gets to me.  Golden color and great balance.  Azaleas are popping, too with this weather.

A buddy brought me a couple of these Sweet Bany Java’s to try.  I went in with much trepidation, as I typically fear beers with too much going on based on the name.  But, everything works well for me here.  The firm, slightly bitter and dry porter presents a solid skeleton to carry all the other shtuff through without becoming a garbled sugar fest.  Much enjoyed.

I've been on a low carb diet since January so I've had to give up beer. Recently I've actually considered getting some Michelob Ultra. Seeing my bro drink Bud Light has given me some courage.

Steve, Steve, Steve............ALWAYS say no to light beer. It's a gateway alcohol to flavored American whiskey
