AS much as I hate to, I am going to have to disagree here with our good friend LC Woody.  I have the exact opposite experience between the 2.  IMO the EHT BP is more refined and less hot than the SJr.   Recent side by side direct comparison too.  But we all know we each have different palates.

Interesting you folks bring that up... I recently posted something replying to @Cluebyand said that CEHT BP and Stagg Jr are often very comparable in my experience, and I also thought that overall CEHT is the more well-rounded product. But after that I opened a Stagg Jr Batch 6 and SBS it blows my favorite CEHT sample (proof 129) out of the water, very different on the palate too. I haven't had a meaningfully comprehensive SBS of different batches of any of these, but maybe there's more variation here than I thought.

I’m just amazed at all these people that carry around $100 dollar bills to pay for their bourbon when I see these receipts.

I’m really not trying to be a smart ass here. Honest.

I know of at least a couple of Chicago liquor stores that are cash only. Yes, they have ATM machines.

That's not surprising considering the fees charged by the banks to the vendors and then the credit card fraud. I know some Dominos around here that require an ID to use a credit card.  I'm sure there are plenty of other places like that as well.

I’m not so sure about that. Legent is still not available in many states.

Those would be the lucky states

I don’t agree with that. I kinda like Legent...it’s different for sure, but it’s still a decent whiskey, and the packaging is fantastic.

Could it be that some people have a $100 bill stashed away in their wallet for when they don't want their better half to find a credit card receipt for another bottle of booze? :D

I also agree with fishnbowljoe about some places only taking cash. Until fairly recently one of our best stores was that way, now they take Discover.

I had been looking for Blanton's casually for a friend, not expecting to find any at MSRP.

Last Sunday while shopping in my local grocery store, I took a look in their liquor department and ended up with 2

bottles on sale for $59.99 (the last 2 bottles they had) after talking to the Dept. Mgr, who had them in the back room.

That night my wife and I left for our condo in Florida, on Tuesday I ran to a local Walgreens that happened to have a separate liquor

dept. There I found 2 more bottles of Blanton's on the shelf, at $64.99 each. My friend got 2 and I kept 2. Bizarre as for weeks previous I had only seen 1 bottle in a store, the owner wanted $150 for it.

Even though the state liquor control of Ohio sets the price for our booze, some places charge a fee for using  a credit card.

It'll be opened. Rest assured haha. And you guys aren't making this easy. The stagg just got a really great review on breaking bourbon. I haven't yet been able to find a review of the ehtbp.

Kane mentioned batch variation and that's a good point and probably explains the different experiences some of us have had.

Since it's for a gift, if you have a chance to get the EHT BP at a reasonable price, I think it would make a slightly better gift because it's much harder to find that bottle.  Who knows, It might be something he could never find for himself. Whereas the Stagg Junior is usually obtainable with just a little bit of effort. Either are a fine choice and would make an excellent gift. Good luck.

That very well could be the reason. Although my solution is the separate CC. We have joint cards, but then we each have our own separate CC for fun money/gifts. Bonus is the cash back you get to use for more bourbon.

I have yet to come across one of these liquor stores in Chicago that only accept cash.  Although I’m sure they do exist in certain parts of the city.

LOL! Good call!

It wasn't too long ago a C note would take care of pretty much anything you'd find. Now you might need 2 or 3

I took a road trip with my son yesterday to southwestern Michigan to pick up a Xmas present. On the way there we were talking about the beer we had at Galvin0791's for Thanksgiving. That lead to us talking about a road trip we took a couple of months ago to get some Three Floyds beer. Then the light bulb came on. ? The Three Floyds Brewery and Distillery was a very short distance off our route. Sooooooo, package picked up in Michigan, then we stopped at Three Floyds on the way home. As a bonus, we also decided to stop at Binny's in Lincoln Park. Not a bad day at all. ?

BTW, Joe Maloney says hi to everyone. ?

Popped a 1792 FP Binnys pick on Friday. First time down the 1792 rabbit hole and it was quite good. I’m assuming non-sp aren’t quite this good. Also got a W12. Ready to make some Poorman Pappy.
