Lying in bed watching TV last night my wife said she would enjoy a nip of bourbon.  After recovering from my shock (she doesn't often ask for one) I asked her if she had a preference and she said surprise her.  She's a fan of ER so I ended up getting her a pour of OGD BIB (the last from that bottle) and I grabbed myself the first pour from a KC SiB Rye PS.  As with most KC selections this one was very, very good.

A healthy pour of standard BT, a touch of standard JM to add that great flavor, a few drops of black walnut bitters and one ice cube - an outstanding above average drink.

Had some regular old BT tonight. Like revisiting an old friend. Still getting up with the puppy. He normally wakes up between 2-4 am.to go out. Then back up around 5:30.  It disrupts my sleep but I know that it won’t last forever. He has become my constant companion. Knee is doing a bit better but I will be glad to get it scoped on Dec 8. Got my new yard sign today.

Well I went to Woodman's prepared to try the base Henry McKenna 80 (@10.49!) but couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on it...ended up bringing home EW BIB. Sipping it now listening to some Neue Deutsche Welle (German new wave)... ;)

Sipping on some MM RC6 after a long and busy day at work.

Sipping on WT 101 KSBW.  The handle I found in the bunker last week (?) is now on the floor in the dining room next to the kitchen door.  That is, I can reach it by leaning over while watching the tiny TV on the kitchen table when "doing dishes".  I could grow to like it.;)

In love with the OF14! The EC18 had a nice balance of sweet with the drying oak but oh boy, the dryness went all the way down my throat. Very happy with both purchases

Sipping some WTRB. It has been a long time since I had this, and I am really enjoying it. Love the spiciness, and how smooth it is in spite of the high abv. Kind of reminds me of Noah's mill in that regard.

MM 101. Cannot believe how much I like this bourbon. Between this and KC12, one of these two might be the best new releases of the year.

Yellowstone Mellow Mash is one of my favorite dusties. Came across it while rearranging the bar. Classic dusty raisin-y dark fruits with a chewiness and sweet wood.  A great sipper.

Not trying to rain on the parade, but I would temper my expectations if I were you.  While MM101 is a decent bourbon, and better than standard MM, it still bears a strong resemblance and (for me at least) still has that acetone taste that I find in regular MM.  I think MM46 is far superior to MM or MM101.

Been making gumbo all day. All the post of EC made me dig out one of my favorite pours. What a great Friday

Picked up and opened a bottle of Belle Meade Reserve, the newer bottle at 108.3 proof, not labeled "Cask Strength" any more.  Frankly, it tasted like it was trying to be Old Forester 1920 but not quite making it.  I always give a new bottle several tries over a period of time, though.  I thought I heard they were distilling their own juice now but the label says it was distilled in Lawrenceburg, IN so I guess it is still MGP juice.

This has been my concern with the MM101. On paper, this seems awesome, but that MM acetone, copper penny flavor has always been my issue with most of their offerings.

I am hearing great things about them. Any comparisons to other bourbons?

It’s hard to point out and compare it to something. I was a big fan of it last night. The nose was simple with no huge stand out character. The mouth feel was light, expected since it’s a younger aged bourbon. I got a lot of clove and light mix of holiday spice candies. I was just missing a depth of Oak to be an A+ for me. If it was available out here I’d buy another bottle for the bunker
