I hear this is being discontinued in Calif. I wonder if they are running out of mature MGP stocks? If that's the case this may go away entirely which would be a shame because it is really good.
smokinjoe
A Maker’s Cask Strength and a David Nicholson 1843 100 pr. I’m a big fan of the Maker’s Cask Strength, and at $40 it warranted a pickup. I hadn’t had the standard DN white label in quite awhile, so at $26 I said why not.
n811
Picked up WT101 from a Virginia ABC store on sale for $22.99. Looks like they a now have the actual date etched onto the bottles in addition to the coded date. I was so inspired I purchased two

Guss West
The Weller FP PS was a short barrel, I was lucky to have my ticket number pulled for the chance to buy one bottle for $70. I jumped at the chance. While there, I also grabbed an Alberta Premium Rye 80p and the Ezra Brooks 99p; since I've not had either of those mid-shelfers before. Noticed we could turn the page on this thread as well. See you in the Spring of 2022 thread!
Jazzhead
I visited my sister this weekend and passed through Bourbon Mecca, otherwise known as Elkton, MD. Came back with a Bardstown Discovery #6, a Carl T Huber Signature Indiana Straight Bourbon from Starlight Distillery (new to me and excellent), and a Woodinville, which my nephew liked so much I left it with him.
Thomm
Not purchased today, but yesterday. Before we turn the page on this thread to the Spring version, let me tell you about how very far from Spring a week of 11 hour work days in rainy, 30 to 40 degree weather feels like. Hence, my typical Friday night reward moved up a shelf (and a half, perhaps)? Here he is, posing with two of his brothers:

My sister used to live next to WR, so when I would visit her, we would go over there. I would love to find a MM with the different color wax, but in the central Ohio market, I haven’t had much luck. mbroo5880i
Maker's Mark is like White Castle. It's always there at a reasonable price. Sometimes you are in the mood for a slider. Sometimes you are in the mood for Makers Mark. Classics are a classic for a reason.

I've also recently had a new appreciation for the various MM private stave barrel selection series. I mean they've always been good, but my interest in them has recently been "rebooted" due to some good tastings.

But I guess my only exposure to White Castle was not typical , so I was very underwhelmed. My only White Castle burger was in Louisville and it seemed to be a steamed beef patty. I'll take Whataburger, or just about any burger over White Castle. I'll place Maker's Mark quality on the level of Whataburger (or substitute your own best option ... In & Out Burger, etc.)...

I like Whataburger, In-and-Out Burger, or as you say whatever your choice. White Castle is an Indiana, Illinois or Missouri classic. I also like Crystal Burger which is similar but in southern states. I like Whataburger but it seems like I have to wait in the drive through for a long time whenever I go there.
fishnbowljoe
Price and availability are also factors for me. I’m still a Weller Whore, but even Weller SR is really hard to find anymore, and the price has crept up to almost $30.00. The price on MM has been $24.99 for what seems like forever. It’s often on sale for $21.99 and $22.99 at a couple of stores in my area. The last two I bought were on sale at Binny’s for $19.99, plus you got a jar of cherries for 1¢. Biba! White Castle is what you get at 2am after getting kicked out of the bar. It is not meant to be in the same arena as Whataburger, etc.

I’m pretty sure @mbroo5880i knows precisely the White Castle I speak of. Later on they opened a store closer to where I lived in Beech Grove. It became the place to stop at sometimes after bowling, or last call. “Two sliders, order of fries, and a large Coke please.” Biba! Joe
