Bob_Loblaw
From what I have been able to try I’ve found this entire series to be underwhelming. Best part about this bottle is I’m going to have a fantastic new decanter by Monday. . . Edited May 8, 2022 by Bob_Loblaw

God damn, this is some tasty Jack. I'm on the lookout for that. Indiana is near last to get anything new, if we get it. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying some OF 1920. This reminds me a lot of the earlier batches of Signature, like about 15 or 20 years ago.

Yeah, sacrilege, so don’t tell the horses. My new MJ recipe I came across calls for them to be served in double OF glasses and I have to say that it was quite excellent.
Wedelstaedt
Celebrated Derby Day, with Blanton’s. This one is pretty nice. Has a lot of fruit going on. Crazy results for today’s Derby. Cheers

fishnbowljoe
Fun day today. Our son and his family came over for our annual Kentucky Derby Day get together. Food, games, food, placing our bets at the betting parlor, more games, more food, The Derby, and finally desert. A great day was had by all. I’m celebrating being the big winner of the day with a pour of my 2021 Weller Blend. Numerous bets were placed, but I had the only winner. I ended up winning a whopping $5.60 on a $2.00 bet. 🫢 I just might need another pour. Biba! Joe

Joe A well deserved pour from your celebrated 2021 Weller Blend. Shoot Joe, you may have another career in the making , as a handicapper! I have always been terrible at picking the ponies, but it never stopped me from having a fun time. Cheers

Speaking of which bourbon one is drinking...I had the EH Taylor again last night. And loved it every bit as much as that first sip. I think mere whoredom <head nods knowingly to Weller people> may not suffice. It's just physical. I'm thinking more in line with Johnny, Old Scratch, and an amended challenge that deletes the fiddle for something better. Worse yet, I'm actually considering secondary market purchases. <shudder>. Suffice it to say I really, really liked it. Enough to eat inferior burgers and stack the pennies.

I finally acquired a bottle of RHF recently because it just fell into my lap, figuratively speaking. I was expecting something similar to Blanton's or Elmer T. Lee; decent but nothing all that special so why the hype. I was wrong. The first (and so far only) pour was amazingly good. My wife and I took our first sip and looked at each other and said "Wow", which doesn't happen all that often. I didn't write down any detailed tasting notes but the richness, balance, mouthfeel, complexity and (yes) smoothness were all outstanding. I know this is a single barrel product and I may have gotten lucky but it's the only BT mashbill #2 product that I've found to be more than just pretty good. smokinjoe
Listening to Braves on the radio out front with an Eagle Rare. ER has been practically common on shelves the last couple of months, which is a nice development in my area. The whiskey is good, but the combined gorgeous aroma of blooming roses, chinese privet, and honeysuckle to my right is making it hard to concentrate on the bourbon. . On the pic, roses in front, privet on the left, and white and yellow honeysuckle in back.

You have to ask yourself, why is there a brisk business of people selling and buying empty high end bottles online. You might end up with a counterfeit (refilled and sealed) bottle, or run around they keep your money and send nothing.

I've never gone to the trouble of researching the history of the brand. I just know the old one has a unique characteristic I can only describe as buttery that I don't taste in any modern bourbons. Yesterday when I drank it it also had a very faint varnish note, and it was a lot better than is sounds. The 2015 was really talking sweet to me yesterday and I returned the favor by going back to it a couple more times

I bought and drank a few of the RY10SiB back around 2018 and they were ok. Think they ran about $60-70 which now would be a snap buy, but back then I was happily quaffing W107 & WSR both of which were available monthly at < $20 so I never really made it a priority to pick up anymore of the RY. I have never been much a fan of Larceny. I did try the first and third releases of the Larceny BP and found them both to be just average. I should revisit at some point though as I do believe HH will get the blending down eventually. Right now though I would take a second ECBP over the Larceny BP every single time. On the Decanters I agree that the Fall 9 year was the best one I have personally tried. I did not try, but heard the 15 year and the current 17 year are both excellent. @GeeTen Don't need to twist my arm there! Just make sure you have the correct address this time!
