Had a little old school (and some new) bourbon tasting tonight. It’s all still extremely good if you have the means.

Solid pour of an EC 9yr 94 proof Store Pick. Tasting very good. Gonna need to go pick up another one (or two) of these soon.

WTRB on a beautiful evening that feels more like early October than late August.

Enjoying a couple of nice pours tonight.  Yes, early in the week.  However, it was a long day with a lot accomplished so relaxing on a similar beautiful sumer evening in West Central Indiana.

While a solid pour, KC9 is not as stellar as WTRB.  Enjoy the pour on a nice summer evening!

How do you like the wheater (I guess the level of the bottle is my answer lol)?  I picked up the "standard" BIB in Springfield during my month-long road trip last month and quite enjoy it.  Really wish I had bought the wheater as well.

Yesterday was a Woodford Dbl Oak, WT101, then we had a new store barrel pick, that I was involved in picking. EC single private barrel. Tasted it at 120 proof and was stellar, now its 94 proof. Even better and SOOOO smooth. We all agreed that this milder tasting one will boost sales as it drinks well below 94 proof and will "reel them in". We yielded 17 6 packs  from the barrel. Last one was 16. 👍

I really enjoy it, hence why I am about half way through the bottle so far. But I also have another 100pf wheater that is from a small Missouri distillery that I think I like better. Plus it is a few bucks cheaper than the Holladay.

Experiencing what we call a hot day in coastal L.A. (low 80s, 70% humidity) and it seems like I have been going non-stop since about 5am.  Finally settling down with a glass from a freezer bottle on a large ice ball.  My first summer blend; I call it "Old WTF" because it is 50/50 'WT' (Wild Turkey 101) and 'Old F' (Old Forester 100).  It is MUCH better for having sat since last summer.

It's a pre-dinner drink, got a couple of Rib-eye steaks coming out of the sous-vide in about 15 minutes.  Just a  note, when I was a bartender 40-plus years ago, our 4-7pm happy hour included a tumbler this size of bourbon (or other well liquor) on the rocks for $2.  Those were the days.

I'm breaking the "no alcohol during the week" rule and I blame Mrs. Skinsfan.

We're  leaving Friday for Aruba to  to celebrate 40 years together,(36 of them married😎), and were trying to decide what bottle to take.

We narrowed it down to WT101 rye, or WT101.  She decided on the bourbon.

We both win!

Sipping on the Blanton's I recently opened -  it's from 2015. Exquisite.

I'm reminded of @smokinjoe 's assessment from back then. "Elegant". It still applies.

I admire your adventurous spirit.  Gonna have to give the old WTF a try.  Bonus points for classy drinkware.  That glass was just made to be draped in condensation.

I've been having fun trying different blends. Some have not turned out all that great (66% Redwood Empire Lost Monarch/34% Mellow Corn), but the Old WTF after sitting for a year is pretty nice.  The other ones I would rate as successes are 60% Eagle Rare/40%Benchmark FP and 60% Knob Creek 9/20% each Benchmark FP and OF 100.  I do find that all of the blends I have tried get much better after a few months of marrying.

Congratulations! Enjoy your trip.  Share a picture or two of you and your lovely bride enjoying a pour or cocktail in paradise.

I think we discussed this before. My wife and celebrate our 36th anniversary in September.  We started dating 39 years ago.

Jack Daniel’s Coy Hill tonight.  Such a massive whiskey packed with flavor.

Well, in Chile & Argentina for 3 weeks. Missing high hurricane season in Puerto Rico, working virtually (I usually do overseas, avoid it in the States for tax reasons), making Chilean Wifey happy with a family visit.

I brought two bottles to share with the martial arts crew here: Smoke Wagaon's basic model & Rabbit Hole Heigold. Both are good, but I would not buy them again. There are better options for the money. My people here were very pleased given the wretched & expensive bourbon selection in Chile.

I otherwise expect to drink little or no whiskey these next few weeks.  Small variety, expensive, lots of excellent wine.

A friend did ask me to bring her as many bottles of Hendricks Amazonia Gin as possible. Those are only sold in duty-free stores. She tried one & loved it. I plan on bringing her a dozen or so, her husband has found some nice things for me. Dirty pool going through the wife & all, but I do know how to get my bread buttered. I'll pick up a bottle for my daughter who loves gin (keeps her out of my whiskey, so I'll take it) and have a sip to see what it's all about.

Chile has an odd duty-free store in that you can buy when leaving (normal) but also when arriving (unique in my experience). Lots of cigar/cigarette/Scotch whiskey buying on the way in. With just one clerk, of course. Latin America!
