What bourbon are you drinking this Spring - 2024

OF14 this evening.  I’m working on finishing this one off.  I shared a pour with my son over the Christmas holiday.  He was not a big fan of the bourbon but requested the bottle when empty.

Yesterday was Doc Swinson, ECBP A 124 then finished with a Calumet 10. It was a good afternoon...  Trying to figure out my Masters menu for today!!! Going to be a good weekend!!!

On a damp/rainy, breezy, cool afternoon here in The Mitten State, I've decided on at least one generous pour of OGD BiB.    I'm sure that will alleviate the crummy feelings.   Or, at least I won't care about 'em. eh?! Heee-Hee!   In fact, if the desired effect is indeed produced, I'll prbably hve another this afternoon.

Gotta go pour that elixir!   It just passed Noon!!!! HA!

Started with an Old Soul 90 proofer which I always seem to like. It does have a tannic oak finish but short. Good stuff. I decided for my second pour, that I would go back to the JEP 107 that I had yesterday.

It was definitely a sweeter front end with the same tannic oak on the finish; only spicier. Crap, I think i like it more today than yesterday. Goes to show you that palate acquisition is real. It can be tampered with or just plain suck on any given day.

Cheers, Regardless...

A year ago or so I saw that @IamMatt had a son living here in Seattle and that he visited from time to time so told him to let me know when he was in town. As Matt likes to say he 'threatened' to buy me a drink when it happened! Well it happened last night as we continued the long tradition of forum members meeting up for a pour.

What a wonderful time! Matt and his wife are such kind and hospitable people. Matt wanted to go to Canon for obvious reasons so we parked at the bar for a couple pours.

I started with a JD12 because I haven't seen or tried it yet. Fantastic pour. Will buy on sight if I see it.

I followed with a HMcK 10 BIB from.......2009. Wow, just remarkable. It clearly had bourbon over 10yrs in it but was not even close to being too oaky.

Matt was true to his word and bought not just one but both of my pours. Thank you good sir and a true pleasure to meet you both. We will do this again!

I talked with an old friend today for several hours.  It had been years but felt like yesterday.  Decided I needed something special to commemorate the day, Big Man Small Batch Bookers to celebrate.  Cheers!

I just realized this photo was from 1974.

KC12 in the glass.

I'm hoping it eases the pain as we watch the Caps season slip away...

No it was a little place south of Canton Ohio a friend owned near Bear Creek (a steak place with a beer hall upstairs that had a great toboggan run in the winter).

Ok, I couldn't place an Old Forester 14. Now I know why my jealousy is warranted... 🤨

At the Buffalo Trace distillery.

This stuff is good. A couple drops of water and it tastes like oak, vanilla,  and cinnamon.  Drinking well below its proof tonight.

Did a sbs with an older batch 10 ECBP vs C923. They were both amazing pours. The older one had more molasses sweetness and depth but drank a little hot.  The newer one hade more oak and a "sweet oak" note vs they syrupy notes of the older one.

Also tried a MM distillery pick vs MMCA. The pick was good with some nice cocoa notes but didn't stand a chance against CA. CA is still my favorite MM product ever.
