Is that the Beam House batch?

I generally don't enjoy Bookers at all, but a buddy recently shared the Beam House with me and I really enjoyed it.

I felt like it had less peanuts and hatred and more caramel.  Enjoyed it so much I had a second glass. :)

Yes...I've never had a Booker's that I didn't love...but this is the first one that I've bought since the price went North of $70.00.

Here's the little card that was in the box. I wish they would shit-can the little card,  the box, and charge less...

Some MM in the glass this evening.
The wife made 450 caramels to take with us for the families at Thanksgiving.  They will be packed in one of these jars for each group.

I’m still perusing the bar and bunkers for a few nice bottles.

Homemade caramels, yum!  I wonder if a few or several dozen might make their way to your favorite liquor store.  😉

Yes, I am also contemplating what to take to my son's house for our first blended family Thanksgiving.  My son and his wife are hosting but since she is 8 months pregnant we are bringing the meal to them.  We really enjoy her family so we all decided to hang together this year.  Plenty of bourbon, wine and gin drinkers.  We are bringing the turkeys (2), ham and pies...Wick's Sugar Cream (the Indiana state pie) and a stellar Kentucky Bourbon Pie from the local pie shop.  Oh yeah, a pumpkin pie for the traditionalists.

Bourbon will be something from WT and KC9.

I am drinking Old MoFo 100 again tonight while waiting on the new Yellowstone episode.

Absolutely!

It is early, but I spent a good part of the day on the farm cutting down trees & clearing brush....then a 2 hr ride home.

I'm beat...

I thought the stuff Cooter approved was completely clear and came in a jar 🤠 no sales tax either.

A mason jar, for sure

First BP of EC I've bought in a while. Bunker is pretty heavy from times gone by. At first crack of the new bottle this is pretty tasty. Solid HH profile and drinking well below it's proof.

My favorite of the 3.

(Which is arguably the unpopular opinion). 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have to try them all, just got them to PR Monday early. Yours is indeed the contrary opinion....doesn't mean you're wrong.

Wheater Weekend (Saturday night) continues with Maker's BRT-01 with a small ice sliver from the ice maker.

I normally prefer Weller CYPB to just about any Maker's iteration, ... but tonight I prefer this BRT-01.  It's not the higher proof, mind you.  Tonight I have a bit of "palate burn" from a quite spicy hot jalapeno-infused Margarita before dinner (which was several hours ago but still hanging around), ... so high proof is not what I'm looking for.  There's just something about the MM profile that kind of soothes the palate, even compared to Weller liquid, which is also usually a great choice when you are looking for something with a soft palate.

MM is hitting the spot better tonight.

Please keep us posted as to the results on trying the same on a non-spicy night. I still find myself surprised at how what precedes the drinking affects the drinking. I should be...but am nonetheless.

I like the FAE-1 a lot. Prices on those (and other things, mostly midrange) have dropped. Snagged another FAE-1 and a BEP on Unicorn at less than they were selling at the distillery when released.

As of right now.... I'm not drinking any alcohol at all.

May a bit of rest allow it to heal.

I'm younger than most of you...and starting to really feel this stupid aging thing.

No, no - please do NOT tell me more about it!

Get well.

Ok the Cooter talk had me going. Had a cousin in high school (female at that)  that called the "good stuff" a cooter. Had me wondering until I remembered the Duke boys.

Anyway been gone for a bit. Went to see my Mom thinking she was on the way out, but recovered pretty well for 96 years of age.

Started on my 1st ever daily prescription. Blood pressure meds - sh!+...

Tailed off on the bourbon a bit but still finds the glass on the weekends + some weekdays...

Gave up my cigars - sh!+ again...

Got my youngest & last one married off. (I think he got the best end of that deal)

Bunch of other sh!+...

And 2nite, opened my 1st Chattanooga Whiskey - the 12th edition Founders

I thought it would be a bit too malty for me after reading a few reviews but it's pretty dang good...

Not to stray off topic too much.  But, my wife and I always laugh when they say the Colts Offensive Coordinators name during games...Jim Bob Cooter.  I can only imagine that it was Ass Whoopin' City as a kid.

I can't imagine why his forefathers thought "Cooter" would be a good surname.

Further digression...my company works with a contractor from Arkansas.  We once had three different guys from that contractor on site whose names were "Jim Bob." 😮  It was difficult keeping them straight. 😀

Having a sip of something that not too many people in the country know about. It’s a local distillery in southern Louisiana. I’ve done barrel picks for local liquor stores at the distillery. They use rice instead of rye in there mash bill. This is the oldest juice that they have ever released. Not bad. Very good people trying their best to make a good bourbon. They are doing a good job…

This evening I’m having a pour from a ps Bowman Brothers. Might have another pour or two. We moved our patio furniture in to our three season porch today. We removed the propane canister from our fire table and moved it near the house. We also got the cover put on our central air unit, and our outdoor water hoses put away. And despite the high winds, we even got some leaves raked up.  Not a bad day. 🥃

2024 MM Cellar Aged at Pappy's Place with "The Gang"!

Before you ask, here are some tasting notes:

"Good nose with a hint of amber maple syrup.  Some wood but no significant fruit nose.  Palate is compact with heavy (almost gritty) sugars.  Good legs in the glass and the finish lingers well.  Nice balace of wood and sugars - much better than the 2023 bottling.  YUMMO!"

Sorry, but that's all I remember (no pen or paper).  Probably should not have tried to do a critical whiskey tasting after a wine tasting luncheon at my local Capital Grille.  Will have to repeat SBS at The Gazebo in April.  🥳

Since you are a Blanton's fan, how would you compare the current ETL.

Dammit, I need to do that side-by-side.

Just poured a regular EHT.
