fishnbowljoe
I’m having a pour from my FOTT bottle of BT. Mmm, mmm, yummy. I’ve had some pretty good ps bottles of BT over the years. This is one of the top five.

Now that mention it, I don't know the age either. I'll ask next time. I do know I really, really like these "Y" barrels. Sweet, complex, almost delicate (not a word I'd normally use with ECBP). I suspect a little younger than 12y, not as much oak as I might expect.

One tries Bernheim, Larceny, ECBP, and HHSS (malt this time, meh). The Y barrels are stated (by the HH person running the show) to be their best. I believe him (first 3 times) and her (4th time). But the age had not occurred to me. I'll ask next time.

I've had "meh" Larceny 92 proof store picks, but I bought a case of an outstanding 92 proof store pick because it was so good. YMMV,... because in my experience Heaven Hill has the most inconsistent single barrel quality control of any big producer out there. But I had to at least put it out there that some 92 proof Larceny barrel picks can be excellent. First I have to say, I have not bought a bottle of Larceny in years. What I do remember was the different bottles, batches, varied quite a bit in quality. The odds were not good. Only around one in four ok. The others, the majority tasted like eucalyptus cough drop and bitter on the finish. Larceny sounded good on paper. The execution left something to be desired. I'm still mad at HH for dropping the legacy Old Fitz bond. It was reliable for what it was - 4 year old wheated mash bill at 100 proof (but never a bad bottle). Now Larceny is everywhere, and it's a dumb name too. No real excuse for a legacy distiller to put out an inconsistent batched product, and price it at upper mid shelf. I can imagine a store pick (single barrel) might somehow get something extra nice. It's like the adage that even a bling hog occasionally finds an acorn.

With that said, they seem to have dialed it in starting with C922 and then B523 - even I can tell the difference between those and the older batches. I haven't tried batches after B523, no need, I have enough of those two batches to last a while, and they still sell at reasonable prices on Unicorn; it seems that yesterday's "Wow" is sometimes today's "Yawn" for the FOMO crowd. The batches are becoming more consistent with a few standouts. The appeal to me of the 50/50 mix used by others here is make the non standouts something I might actually drink. Those just struck me as super hot red cinnamon.

Anwalt
I loved HM10 when I first started. I still enjoy it, and sometimes love it. These single barrels vary! ECBP blows away the HM10y in general. Today was no exception.

Richnimrod
Still sifting bottles in the closets, and came across a Birthday Bourbon from 2011. Almost full. I think I liked it so well I was "saving it for a special occasions" . . . or some BS. Anyway, I poured a nice dram in a standard Glencairn, and it is a 'special occasion' pour! But, now it's gonna hog some space (I hate these stupid wide bottles!) on the regular rotation shelves . . . for a while at least.
Clueby
It was "top shelf" night last night. There was an obscene amount of choices. With my recent health issues I just put a tiny bit in the bottom of a wee glen to at least get the "essence" of a couple things. Sat there and smelled the PVW15 most of the night...heavenly scent. That, PHC11, and CEHT BP Rye were my chosen sniffs.

Still has 18yr Rendezvous Rye in the mix - and they're charging $150/bottle for this years newer stuff. Get well, my friend - there's more great bourbon to be consumed! Neither Eric or myself had anything to do with that Act 3 showing up. Not sure who brought it. I didn't try it...didn't even see it till the end. I completely passed on this year's "act".
