In true "meh" fashion I had no idea as a government worker that I had Monday off. Talk about the best day ever:

Frank: "You didn't know we had Monday off?"

Meh: "Nope"

Frank: "Well, yes, 3 day weekend!"

Meh: "Awesome! This is such good news I'm going on an extended lunch!"

Truely a gift from the gods. AND I got word that BTAC will be here in a week or so. Captain E has loaded his tubes with fish and is going prowling for bourbons! Garrrr!!!!

Whoops, and to mark my good fortune I'm having a Pappy 15!

My wife and I just did our 11th IVF cycle.

They retrieved 27 eggs (I'm going to start calling her a hen!) and 18 of them were decent. 10 of them fertilized, so we will see whats left on Monday before they put some back in. Compared to what we normally end up with, this is a good result.

So tonight, I started with '06 WLW

Headed onto AAA 10 year, ETL then some Rare Breed.

Finishing off with some Blanton's straight from the barrel.

Fingers crossed.

Scott

Good luck Scott, I hope they take (so to speak).

Last night I settled for a WT101. It was getting late, didn't feel like getting involved with anything too fancy. Kind of a step down from recent pours, but a good solid choice.

Best of luck to you and your wife, Scott. I'll be sure to add you both in my prayers.

Currently; Great Divide Aged in Oak Yeti Imperial Stout. It tastes so good but man is it a bit to say/type!!

Tony

In Detroit? That is an outstanding Imperial Stout, probably one of the very best made here in Colorado. Tonight, I will either have a BT, or one of my favorite bottom shelf, Ancient Ancient Age 10 Star. For $12 a bottle it's hard to beat; come to think of it, I've paid $12 for a single shot of Basil Hayden's!

Holy crapping over-priced whiskey Batman!

This evening, a bottle of Wild Turkey 101 will give up it's last drop and join the Empty Bottles club.

Having a nip early before heading out to dinner with the wife and parents...

ORVW 15... so many folks dig it that I keep tucking in to the bottle despite not liking it at first. The air seems to be helping a lot, I'm going to revisit around hanukkah.

SB.com PVW 23. This is special whiskey for this special occasion. (I'm now a Pappy and it was distilled the year my son Steven was born. Its his birthday today)

Number 2

Old Grand Dad 114 for obvious reasons

PS

See attached. The Patty and Riley Allan Batz, born 11/8/2007.

Well, damn, Ed -- I've already had as much as I should, but now I should have more. I think the best I can do to note such auspicious a birth is drink from a bottle issued the year I was born -- a 1953/1957 J.W. Dant. Cheers, and congratulations to all!:toast:

Congrats, Ed! A very special occasion.

Had to break out the Reidel to try the Four Roses. Both very good; I think I prefer the single barrel a little more.

Cracked open a '06 Handy. Spent my day training at an Aikido Seminar with Satome Sensei...one of the last of O'Sensei's students still teaching. O'Sensei was the founder of this style of martial arts. Very interesting and entertaining. The guy is in his 70's and still moves very well, and has a great sense of humor.

Special day, special bourbon.

Congrats Ed!!!

I had a taste of the new WT American Spirit tonight the Bourbon's Bistro.

That stuff was way more than I expected, I kind of hoped to be disappointed so I wouldn't have to spend the money on a few bottles, didn't happen. In fact now that I have tasted it and read what Chuck said about it being a 1 time deal I think I need to buy not just 1 or 2 but several!:banghead:

Just finishing off some old standbys such as WT Rare Breed, Saz, Jr., and ORVW 107. Head seems to be spinning.

glad to hear that some folks here somehow DO combine bourbon with a martial arts approach to aspects of life.....! i sometimes wonder if they cancel each other out, but it really is about balance...and poise!

If you're on LI, drop me a line. I put a '93 La Grande Dame in the fridge and I have the bourbon out ready to go. Maybe we can celebrate SB.com style. Hope to hear from you.

Congrats Ed. I had a pour of Parker's Heritage in your (and his) honor. Hope everyone is doing fine. That Parker's Heritage is some seriously good whiskey.

Having a nice S-W vatting: equal parts early-80s Fitz Prime and mid-90s Weller 107. Loaded with cotton candy and caramel. I'll be doing this again.

new (and my first!) STAGG is really like!

i hear that it is palatable enough neat, but water, too, will open up some things in it...but i want to experience the barrel proof fire of 144+ first!

here goes.....

Indeed. Sylvester Croom is doing a nice job apparently turning things around. I will continue to watch with interest. Tonight I'm kicking off egg nog season with a nice nog and WT101.

After a long period of one-drink-a-day forebearance, I decided to pull out the stops this afternoon while watching the Packers pick apart the Vikings and Bears eke out a win against the Raiders. I definitely needed a stress reliever while watching the Bears slog their way to victory, and besides, I need to clear out some room for the new BTAC bottles - and maybe pull out some '06 BTACs from the bunker. Today's pours:

  • Dickel Barrel Select
  • Four Roses Single Barrel
  • Pappy 15
  • Lot B
  • Hirsch 16
  • Baby Saz

Fortunately, I paced my drinking so that I'm just pleasantly buzzed. :D I'm close to finishing the Baby Saz, and that'll be all for the day...
