doubleblank
I went out and picked up my W Larue Weller and Stagg today at the downtown Spec's. They aren't putting any BTAC's on the shelf for now until all orders are filled. The Stagg is $47.79 and W Larue is $43.30 per bottle when you buy the three bottle cases.Randy

luv2hunt
To end the WT American Spirit saga....yes, it has arrived at the distributor here who has not yet passed the info onto the reps. It will cost $84.99 plus tax here in Indy. (so he says?!?!)Dawn

bigtoys
My 100th post! WTAS?? was what I thought initially, then I found out what it was. Had some time before I met my mom for lunch, so I detoured to the Skokie Binny's. Thought I might run into the 4R Yellow Label. No intention of buying the BTAC this year. Here's one of the two WTAS I got; I think I only left them with 1 or 2 more. Figured since it's Thanksgiving season, I'd put some of my wife's holiday stuff around the bottle. Love that wood turkey. Here's what it says on the back of the box, for those of you who haven't found your bottles yet ($99, btw) So, I'm looking for Yellow Label, but they only have small batch and single barrel (about 6 of each), but the small batch has a yellow label tag under it. I point this out to the guys working the floor; one says, the label is kind of yellow :slappin: ; I tell him the yellow label is REALLY yellow; maybe they'll get it soon, since that's what Dave at HP Binny's predicted would come first. Funny how we know more than they do. Anyway, I see the new GTS at 144.8 proof and can't resist one 2007 BTAC. YIKES, that's high. Gonna need some ice in that. PS: Sometimes I feel like I post to this thread too much. At least I have a ton of bourbon bunkered; I don't really drink that much. I've gotta have another bourbon night and empty some bottles. PPS: I was hoping not to post again too soon, but I have a feeling that when I run across Four Roses Yellow Label......
HighTower
Interesting about the WTAS, with "Master Distiller Selection" on the back of the box.Last year, Japan got an exclusive release of WT Master Distiller Selection, 14yo. And this year, there's a 15yo MDS.Randy, have you tried them both, and if so have you done a side by side?I have 2 WTAS on the way (thanks Oscar!), but I only have one Japan MDS, and don't think I will open it, at this stage.Scott
drrich1965
My wife, knowing nothing about bourbon, came home with Aristocrat, with I gather is 4yo Heaven Hill. As a bourbon newby, I must say I really like it. The nose is not very expressive, but the taste is good. There is an almost maltiness I have not found in other bourbons, which works for this SMS lover. The bottle claims it is mild and mellow, and it is that. Being young, the oak is less pominent than in older bourbons, and I must say I enjoy that part of it. About the best $10 present I have had! tango-papa
My wife, knowing nothing about bourbon, came home with Aristocrat......About the best $10 present I have had! Your wife brought home a botle of Bourbon for you!!! You have taught her well grasshopper... I didn't buy any Bourbon yesterday, but I picked up a mint condition bottle of J&B Reserve 15 years old in the box priced at $24.99. Don't know much about it, but it's not something I'd ever seen before... ~tp
doubleblank
Scott, I haven't purchased any WT American Spirit yet, but several of us have tried the WT 14yo MDS against the Tribute 15yo at my house. The 14yo MDS is slightly softer than the Tribute.....less tannins to my taste and has a cleaner, brighter finish. I always get chocolate cherries from Tribute which I love. The WT 14yo has been well received by all who have tasted it here.Randy

Will periodically call up Brett at Binnys and ask him what interesting malts he has that he thinks I will like, and suprise! I think I will keep her.. Now, to teach her the difference between Aristocrate and 23yo Pappy (besides the price)!

LarryG
Bulleit. All right, all right ... I realize it's hardly as exotic as most of what's been mentioned in this thread. But as I stood there in the state store, shaking my head at the narrow and increasingly frustrating range of choices available here, I realized that Bulleit was about as good as I was going to do among the brands I've not yet tried. And hey ... it was actually on the top shelf!(There were two bottles of Hancock's PR but at $38, this choice cost more than I wanted to spend without first researching it here.)Larry
