After a long and bizarre week which has finally ended in Mother's Day festivities, I am now getting back to my first new bourbon love, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit.

This was one of my first "premium" purchases several years ago and it is still my favorite.

Last night whilst going through our Kentucky photos, I started out with a pour of Van Winkle 13yo Rye, then moved onto some Elmer T Lee after dinner. Inspired by my photo of the Booker Noe statue, I finished with a pour of Bookers from a bottle I stuck in the freezer earlier in the day...... and I enjoyed them all from a very nice Woodford Reserve glass I got at the Sampler

Starting with Centennial 13 yr from Julio's and then I think I'll have either a Pappy 20 or 15 depending on the mood.... either way it's going to be a nice finale.icon10.gif

Courtesy of BobbyC, I am finishing a bottle of 2001 W.L. Weller 19yo from the Sampler just past. Though I realize it is not a favorite of Bobby, I deign to disagree -- it is a very expressive pour of vintage and well-aged Stitzel-Weller.

It doesn't hurt that the black walnut nose reminds me of the walnut trees first growing, then harvested from, the yard of my childhood farmhouse. There were many a year when we scattered the walnuts in the driveway in order that passing cars would effectively shell the nuts.

The walnuts also pass to the palate, where sweetmeat centers display just before they drying tannins provide a distracting bitterness in the finish.

Were it not for that late, tannic dryness, this would be an archetypal wheated bourbon. Still, with a touch of water -- which softens the finish, but also the main savor -- it is a fine pour.

And so, I end where I began, with great appreciation to Bobby. Many thanks.

Tax stamped J.W. Dant BIB. Excellent pour. One flavor that jumps out at me is creme brulee (burnt cream).

Started off with an OF Birthday Spring 1990 and finished up with a Bookers B95-C31 (7yr,9mo.) 126.7PF

I often forget how good the Bookers is.....

Last night I started with a Jim Beam & coke (It was poured for me - I drank it to be polite), then moved onto some Blantons Family Reserve and then a 2004 Stagg over ice with a bbq steak & salad dinner. Instead of desert, I finished on some Wild Turkey American Honey.

Tonight I had some Rock Hill Farms followed by Weller 7/107. I sure wish I cold get Weller here, especially if it were cheaper than Makers!

Four Roses Yellow Label, (the cheap one) with it's low proof, 80, over cracked ice I find it to be perfectly mellow,... hmmm, mellow yellow label?

Kid grown, wife gone, travel is not a bad option for me right now. Fortunately I like exotic foods, and the company allows me to travel at a premium level. Just spent three days each in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, ate some good food, met some interesting people, did some bidness. Two "30 hour days" on each end going and coming, certainly long but it could be worse, Singapore Airlines business class is not bad duty.

Rob,

My company does business in Kuala Lumpur, so I've been there a couple times. It's a great place to visit, but I was surprised at the cost of alcohol. They really tack on the Sin Tax. We always stay at the Reneassaince New World, right near the Petronis Towers. It's a nice place, great pool.

Something different tonight: Hardys Whiskers Blake Tawny Port. Very inexpensive yet was given a 94 rating. Great tawny. It reminds me of a less overpowering Pedro Ximenez. Lots of raisins and toffee.

Last night it was a nice pour of Aberlour a'bunadh followed by Talisker Distillers edition. Both were exceptional. Tonight I'm probably hitting my Pappy reserves icon7.gif and getting back to good 'ole bourbonville where everybody knows my name...

Last night it was a Wellers 107 perfect manhattan followed later with a sip of Bushmills 16.

All in all a woderful evening.

p.s. Two days ago I remembered telling a package store owner that I liked Wellers 107 and he said he'd order some. I went to his shop and sure enough there were two 1/2 gals which I promptly spirited away.:slappin:

I have been doing pours of WT101 over cracked ice.

I pre measure with a jigger glass.

I love the way Wild Turkey beads.

A lot of beads, I difinatly would say that WT proves.
