Still no sign of it in Chicago--Binny's or Sam's. Hmmmmm. Hope the truck wasn't hijacked.:smiley_acbt:

BT, I swear it was not me! If that truck was hijacked, I had nothing to do with it!

No need to worry Guys,

I spoke to Brett 2 days ago and he said his distributor hadn't ordered any, and that's why he didn't have it.

He was in KY doing barrel selections and saw it available there, and his stock is now on the way. Should be in this week........

It'd be great if it came by this weekend; I'm on call next week and the weekend of the 21-22, so there'll be no drinking. Can't believe it'll get to the stores, but I can hope.

Of course, the next week, I'm off a couple of days in addition to the rest of the summer weekends.

Do you think different stores will get bottles from different barrels? Or will most of it be the same. I have fairly easy access to multiple Binny's: Highland Park, Skokie, Glencoe, Buffalo Grove, Niles.

My liquor-store boss told me yesterday he'd ordered six. I was surprised he was allotted that many, because I doubt more than, say, 500 bottles came to Tennessee, if that many. Retail to be in the mid-$60s.

I'll be glad to see them on the shelf, but figure I'll get my couple, anyway:grin:.

I have no problem with Toby's post -- certainly nothing Oscar and Tony can't handle -- nor do I have any problem with people buying up all the Four Roses they can get. As the then-Master Distiller at George Dickel said whenever someone asked him about the distillery shutdown (1999-2003), "If you drink it all, we'll make more."

I wrote about these very limited editions in WHISKY Magazine. They are a double-edged sword, but if they weren't hard to get they wouldn't be very limited, would they? No one should be criticized, except in jest, for scooping up all they can if that's what they want to do. Even the people who buy things up only to offer them on eBay don't bother me as much as they do some people here. Caveat Emptor, I always say.

No sign of it coming to Binny's as of today. Hope they don't limit it to KY like the one honoring Jim Rutledge's 40th.

I was told it would be available wherever Four Roses is sold. That does not, however, mean it will ever get beyond the receiving room at Sam's or Binny's.

The mention of highjacked trucks brought back a memory. Long ago, I learned that booze producers record product intercepted by the Chicago Outfit as "in transit."

I think I’ve been fully converted to Chuck Cowdery’s thinking on buying up bourbon. If it’s for sale and someone wants to buy it, why not? In economic terms, the Four Roses 120 is probably underpriced. So Four Roses might want to raise the price next time around in order to moderate demand. Such a strategy would hurt people like me and some of the board members who have relatively easy access to the product. But it would make more money for the distillery and also keep the product on the shelves a longer time for those who really want it. This strategy seems to be the choice of Brown-Forman with their Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection pot still bourbons. For this product, however, the price well outstrips the perceived quality, so the stuff lingers on the shelf a very long time.

You missed my 1150 from 7-1m.

I forgot to mention that I got a couple of glasses from Jim Rutledge at the signing I attended. These are a new design. The old ones were square(ish), and a few seem to have found their way home with me over the last year or so. The new ones are a bit larger and round. They have a nice heft to them. The best thing is that they've got a three dimensional logo in the glass on the bottom.

AMEN to that Joe! I'd like to be the first to say Oscar is a true friend and if it weren't for this wonderful site supporting our common interest I would have never meet him.

Thank you Mr. Butler for the use of your awesome web site and the community it houses.

Thank you Oscar for being the great guy you are!

Cheers Brother!

I brought home bottles #752 and #778 (already opened:grin:) from Barrel 7-1J tonight, so it has arrived in Middle Tennessee. Thus, certainly not Kentucky-only.

Our store got the 6 bottles promised, though, I'm told, it was not without some hesitation by the salesman.

It's finally at Binny's. Different barrels at some stores; I had to ask the clerks over the phone not just "do you have it?", but tell me the barrel and proof. I got 2 from 7-1R at 56.4% (1888, 1892) and 2 from 7-1T at 58% (2196, 2222). Looks like Binny's has won the high proof award!!
