CorvallisCracker
Hey Scott, didn't Jim Morrison attend FSU? Would have been before your time there, but not by that much.GaryJim Morrison, as already mentioned, went to UCLA, but yes, briefly attended FSU.Burt Reynolds attended and graduated from FSU, way before my time.Faye Dunaway attended my high school, then started at FSU but graduated from U of F (turncoat!!!), also well before my time.Rita Coolidge attended and graduated from FSU, somewhat before my time. A friend of mine was her roomate at Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

CorvallisCracker
In another thread Gary wrote:I think old saws get updated every generation.and in this thread I note that Oscar has a new SIG:Bourbon will get you thru times of no money better than money will get you thru time of no bourbon.Several questions immediately come to mind:1. What would the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers have to say about that?2. Did the FFFB drink bourbon?3. Can bourbon be used in a bong?4. How about if it's Geo T Stagg?5. If the FFFB drank bourbon, would it be before or after they used it in a bong?6. Is the reason the FFFB are no longer around is because they used Geo T Stagg in a bong?Enquiring minds want to know! ACDetroit
Some old school Wild Turkey Rye, the Green label with Red writing! Man this stuff is wonderful.I may try the Rittenhouse 21yr old next to compare!Tony
callmeox
It's straight rye night here. Woo hoo!I forgot that I had another rye queued up in front of my two new purchases, so I opened the Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye that I got from another SB'er and it set my head spinning. Cloves, leather and tobacco on the nose, toffee and a hint of cinnamon on the palate and a long warm finish with some tannin dryness late. Very mature tasting.Next up is the Rittenhouse BIB and then bed.
StraightBoston
Vbt #124 (wait for it) with two "comparables". It finished #2 of 3, which is exactly what I expected (and hopefully no hint at all...)

OscarV
Evan Williams Green Label 80 proof over cracked ice.Very good, spicey, menthol like, refreshing.I'm back on it.The first thing you notice is it's age or lack of it I should say. It is young and that really gets my attention because I drink so many 8 year olds and up.The wood taste like it was just cut, but I don't mean that in a bad way. Some youngsters are good.I mentioned the menthol taste to my bride and she asked me, "Is that why it comes in a green label?"She instantly cheapened the bottle for me but I am back on it.I like it. In fact I would go so far as to say that it reminds me of what Wild Turkey Rye might taste like if it was only a couple years old.I think I'll do a WTR next. OscarV
I think I'll do a WTR next.Let me first apoligize to all fellow Turkey fans.WTR totally out classes EWGL. WT ages better than any ryes or ryed bourbons on the market. But still, this EWGL has something to it, I'm having another and thinking this is the summer of Evan. Gillman
Nice day! By the way, how do you read that statement of Lyndon Johnson? I mean, it stands to reason one will get very sick drinking a quart of bourbon (in fact doing this can easily kill a person). Was he being critical of over-drinking in general? Just trying to figure out what he meant.Gary
